Hi there,
I'm going through the same thing with my 9 month old girl now...I'll relate to you my story and see if it helps. She started limping about 2 1/2 weeks ago on her back hind leg (after a trip to the dog park) and it got better after about a week, so we went back to the dog park and she was okay for a few days. She started limping again while we were at the dog park...she likes to play pretty rough - running full speed, wrestling, jumping other dogs, etc. So I took her to the vet the next day and she sedated her, took x-rays and manipulated both of her knees. At first, the vet suspected Riley's cruciate ligament as the drawer movement in the injured leg was lax, but after sedation the vet found that both knees had laxity in the drawer movement. The vet prescribed a week's worth of Rimadyl (anti-inflammatory) and 2 weeks of rest. We finished the prescription of Rimadyl yesterday and Riley's limp has gotten MUCH better (not really noticeable) but she still isn't putting 100% of her weight on it yet. I called an orthovet today and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday to really see what's going on as the laxity in both knees isn't normal.
I am really hoping that Riley won't need surgery of any kind! I don't know if this helps you at all with your pup...they are still babies and it is heart-breaking to have serious issues with their health!! I hope that your baby is okay...i would recommend taking her for a 2nd opinion just in case her limp turns out to be more serious.
Please keep me updated as to your pup's progress...good luck!
Erica
