Hello Everyone, I haven't posted here in ages, but just wanted to put my 2 cents into this discussion - Scooby Doo is now about 8 months old and she's around 52 lbs. She's growing into her large breed collar that we got her about a month ago. She seems to grow slowly over time, as I've heard on boxer world and from our vet. :D
We're still planning on taking her to obedience training at Judy Strickland's soon.

Boxer size

I just weighted Ozzy yesterday and at 9 months he weighs 47.5 lbs. I'm not worried about his being small. I credit his slower and more controlled growth to having him on lg breed puppy by Iams. He will probably top out at about 60 lbs full grown but even if he is smaller I don't have a problem with that at all. Boxers were never intended to be extra large dogs like Rott's. If I had a boxer that was 100lbs I wouldn't ever use it for breeding because it doesn't fit the standard of the breed. IMO breeding is something that only qualified and dedicated people should undertake. This is a lifetime commitment. There is a lot of expense and possible heartache involved. Both parents need to be extensively tested for health problems and inherited conditions that could get passed on to the pups. Just because a dog is pretty or a good family pet or becuase you want another boxer just like the one you have are not good reasons to consider breeding. Pups are cute but they are a lot of work 24/7 from birth to 8 weeks when you can finally send them home with new owners. these are just my thoughts on this and some people aren't has concerned with these things. I've just seen to many sad situations in shelters to feel any other way.

My girl "Champagne" is real small

I am reading about all of your small boxer girls and really wonder what is this satin balls your talking about??? Champagne is 4 years old now and she only weighs about 40lbs, doctors say she is small and we have run numerous amounts of tests and everything comes back normal...she is always alert and very normal acting, but I am tired of people saying wow, do you feed that dog? Any suggestions from anyone...She is on Eukenuba Lamb and Rice puppy food as that was what the vet said would be the best protien and fat for her. Her stomache is very sensitive to any other meat and can not have any table scraps without being sick. The doctors say that we should get her fixed and that may bulk her up a bit...Opinions anyone???:confused:

Why isn't your boxer fixed anyway? If you do a search here you will find out about all the health benefits to spaying your female. Also do a search on kibble or dog food and that will bring up lots of information about ingredients for you. Eukanuba isn't really that great of a food for doggies. Good luck with all your searching

Lexy is five years old and weighs a slightly chubby 55 pounds. Her chubbiness comes from her lack of stamina that is the result of a heart problem because the "breeder" decided to breed her female to a relative's male - and neither one had any business being bred (kinda like a 100 pound male!) - neither parent had been shown - no temperament testing, etc. That's what happens when anyone besides the pros breed doggies! I so hope you decide to just spay your female now!!! If you love her as you say you do (and I'm sure you do!) you'll realize that being spayed is the healthiest thing for your baby! It prevents numerous health problems - and a pregnancy, well, that is just the worst thing you could wish for her - she could EASILY DIE! So could all the pups. Just want you to really think about it and do what's right for your baby - spay her!

Lecture over - on with the main question Bailey is 2 years old and weighs a lean, mean 53 pounds. She is fit and trim, and absolutely beautiful, if I do say so myself! :D

My new rescue dog (the result of another "let's breed our registered dogs" litter) is 7 months old and weighs a shocking 55 pounds. Her dad was, by all accounts "huge" and, therefore, had no business siring a litter. I can only pray that her overly large size does not cause her painful (not to mention expensive) health conditions - or shorten her lifespan like Lexy's will be shortened.

Be glad if your female stays petite - it's healthier for her - as is spaying her! Besides, since they never stop thinking they are lap dogs - the smaller ones cause fewer bruises when they jump up on your lap! :p

I am in Canada and the breeder that we deal with basically said to feed her what she "can" eat at this point...and that is what the vet suggested. We will get her spayed but the vet also said we should try to put some weight on her before we pput her through such a surgery...there have been lots of test and lost of differnet trials to get her there! We love her so much and didnt want to chance losing her, but she is getting fixed next month as long as she doesn't go into heat again. Last time she was scheduled for surgery, she went into heat.

My little girl, Jade, is 2 1/2 and weighs around 50 lbs. I think she may be a little lighter now (bikini season). :D I had always thought she was a little on the smaller side also. She always looks small when she is around other boxers. But she is a solid pooch, mostly muscle since we are at the park playing alot. It's good to hear she seems to be around average from what everyone on here is describing.

Some people say the same thing to me. Do you feed your dog! Of course I do! I know how it can be offending. Summer is petite and thin but very muscular. I just recently took her to the vet and she weights about 39 pounds. She is about 1yr and 3 months old. I dont think there is any thing wrong with Eucanuba. I feed Summer Iams but Eucanuba is made by Iams. My vet tells me that its great food for your dog. Summer cant eat any other food. Im sure your baby is just fine! There are alot of people replying to this post saying that it doesnt matter what size your baby is, which is true, but the original post was posted out of curiosity of what the norm was for a female boxer. Not to make people think that I didnt like my boxer because of her size.

Diva is over 3 years old and she weighs in at 25.5 kilograms (56 pounds). She is completely normal in all ways, just not as tall as other females (but she is not squat either). I have gotten quite a lot of compliments from people about her - most of them say what a nice size she is.

Monty on the other hand is nearing six months and he is already 18 kilograms (39 pounds). Now I know that males are usually bigger then the females, but at the rate he's going he is going to be a monster!

I have two boxers,
-Luna, three yrs and nine months: she weights about 68 lbs I think (34 kg) but she's bigger than other females and the vet says she's about right on her ideal weight.

-Boy, three yrs and a half: he weights about 80 lbs (40 kg) and he's waaaaaay to big! Since he was fixed two yrs ago he has gain a lot of weight and it's not easy to get him back on his ideal weight! He is on a special diet, but it still doesn't work quite good, he's still too big!!! I'm really afraid that he will get ill due to his overweight. He is also epileptic, could this be because he's too big? If anyone has tips for a boxer that's too big, let me know!! :(
