Reading your post brought it all back to me, last year our first Boxer, Jade died very suddenly of a brian tumour at the aged of 10. I completely know how you are feeling at the moment and I send you all love and thoughts at this very sad time. You will be strong and get through it even though it hurts so much, it's been 10 mths since Jade died and I still think of her every day, I can now look at photos and videos and smile at all the great memories we had with her and you will do this in time as well, this may sound weird but I'm sure I've heard her a few times at home when it's quite which is quite comforting in a weird way.

Oh Cooper, I am so sorry you guys are going through this. You know, I kept the picture from your Christmas card on my fridge because I think you are sooo handsome. Hang in there big boy.

How is the rest of your fur family doing? Do they sense something going on with Cooper? Be strong and give each other a lot of love.

Arley has been mother-hening Cooper for the past month, cleaning his face and ears etc... Cooper has always been the protector of us but I have seen an AMAZING transformation over the past month...I think Cooper taught Arley to be the protecter because Cooper always watched out the window and would bark when people or animals walked in front of the house or came to the door, then one day it dawned on me that it was Arley who was watching out the front window alerting me of passer-by's and Cooper would reward Arley with a lick in the face. I thought I was seeing things but Arley has stepped up to the plate and has assumed the duties with pride.

My sympathy to you. We are dealing with our T-Rex deteriorate and still trying to see if it is age related or something else. He was my first boxer baby and we don't know how old he was when we adopted him. We aren't ready to let him go, but don't want him to suffer. He is starting to have similar issues and tripped and fell down some stairs last night (he was ok)and gave us a scare. We are giving him extra love and attention. It is obvious how much you love Cooper and how lucky he is to have you care for him. We too are wrestling with what to do and it isn't easy. My heart goes out to you.

Thanks for the support

It is with great sadness that I had to help my baby to the bridge.

In the late nite that I posted this thread I was out of town at my parents house for the weekend. That nite I stayed up with him ALL nite. He was getting worse by the minute. His front rite leg would not hold him up, his paws were very irratated and bleeding in spots from spinning, he had a rug burn on his rear from trying to get up and was panting uncontrolably, his eyes were clouding and as he softly laid with me that nite I knew what he wanted and was not sure I could accept it. At 5 am in the morning while Cooper lay asleep I went to make coffee and sat at the table and bawled my eyes out, My mom woke up and we talked for hours and I continued to cry. I realized that it hurt me more to watch him try to get through the day then it would to help him to the bridge, while not an easy decision it was the best one for my baby.

While my heart aches and I continue to bawl my eyes out I know that he is free and in a much better place. I have NO regrets about this whole process and I am comfortable that I have kept all my promises to him that I made to him the day I got him. He had a WONDERFUL life...the best food, all the toys he could ever want, bones, chew toys, a fenced yard to romp in, great medical care, friends, family, and whatever else he wanted or I thought he needed or wanted.

I have been very lucky that I have been able to be with him non-stop the last 5 months of his life we got to spend a lot of quality time together.

While I still can not bring myself to change my signature yet I also can not yet post him in the rainbow bridge section as it is still so painful and I am giving myself some time to be able to think clearly when I do because I want it to be a special.

My parents made the arrangements and paid for my boy to be brought back to me when he is ready. It should be in the next day or two now. My parents will be taking me to a nursery to pick out a magnolia tree that I can plant in his memory as Cooper LOVED the magnolia tree in one of my old houses.

I promise I will also get some pictures in my gallery of all my babies so that you can see them, I have been meaning to do it for awhile now.

I thank you all SOOOOO much for the love and support you have given me. This is my first loss. I have also decided to go to a support group for pet loss which I think will be a great experience.

Happy Valentines day my lil fuzz-butt....I miss you something awful

I am so, so, sorry for the loss of your sweet baby Cooper, I have been thinking about you and your family since you last posted about him, and hoping that things were a little better, and that you could have some more time with him. I feel your pain and understand the suffering that you are going through at this sad time, but always remember that you gave him a wonderful life, filled with love and happiness, and that when the time came to help him for one last time you were there, with him. I know at this time it is no compensation to you, because you are overcome with pain and grief at losing Cooper, but he really is in a better place, free from all the pain and indignity that this horrible disease gave him, and playing young and free again with all our Boxer angels that have gone before. I know you will post for him on Rainbow bridge, and this will also be a lasting memorial, and a fitting tribute to a wonderful boy. You are truly in my heart and prayers today, and I am sending much love and healing vibes your way. God bless cooper....give my Poppy a big kiss when she meets you at the bridge, she loved a handsome boy. angelicon xxx

Marion,
Thanks so much for the prayers and kind words....it really does help to hear it from people that have been through this, it is a comfort that I am not a lone and that so many other people can relate to my grief and pain.

Thanks again.
