Has anyone else experienced this? We have two boxers - now aged 2 1/5 - and they've been with us since they were tiny pups. ONe is a boy and the other a girl.

Henry, though, still squats like a girl when he goes to the loo: he's never learned to cock his leg like other boy dogs.

Any ideas?

Quite likely he never will. Enjoy it - dogs lifting their legs on everything in sight is far more annoying.

Not every male dog (including some intact ones) ever lifts their leg. It's partly a learned behaviour, and partly instinctive. But it also goes along with some degree of marking - and, IMO, having a dog that pees all he needs to pee in one go is far preferable to one that "saves" some for the next bush or lamp post ;)

I agree. My boy can't pass up ANYTHING when it comes to lifting his leg. If he had his way it would take an hour to get to the end of the block!

LOL, well, I have a female that lifts her leg! I guess they have their own interesting way of "expressing" themselves. :)

Hobart just recently started hiking his leg on walks; he still leans forward and let's it all loose when he's let out in the yard though. Nestle is a major leg-lifter on walks too....I think she's confused  Whatever works I guess :)

Ty is also a squatter and I am happy that he is. He is 18 months old, so I guess he will never lift his leg. I did have a funny experience with a leg lifter, though. We had a rottie in our rescue group who had to leave his mark on everything. I took him to an adoption day at Superpetz and first he peed on a display table then he lifted his leg and peed on a bag of Iams dog food-even he knew the stuff is junk lol. Talk about embarrassing, though!!

I was a bit concerned that Zeb was still mainly squatting but put that way who wants a dog cocking his leg up everything?
My brothers dog comes over and pee's up everything in sight in my garden and goes every few minutes on walks whilst my little Zeb only has the one pee while on walks and doesn't pee up things :)

Yup I'm happy with him squatting now :)
