We just got our second boxer a month ago, Our first boxer (Rocky) has run of the house and our new boxer (Bella) has a crate. Rocky helps Bella break out of her crate. We just us a plastic tie to keep them from lifting the handle. No breaking free when were not home.

we also have a hoodini!!! her name is holly, we now have two locks on the front door and two on the back of the crate!!, she's determined!!!, i've tried to use garbage bag ties and holly just chewed them off and let herself out, dont recommend using them as there is metal in the middle and they could come to harm, i didn't think about that, but luckily she didn't hurt herself.

turning the crate around so the door is facing the wall sounds to me to be your best bet

good luck and congrats on your new arrivalpartyicon

Marcella was our houdini. Somehow she figured out how to slide the locks on her kennel door and escape. The worst consequence of this was the time she got out and chewed part of the cover off of the brand new 5th Harry Potter book.

We used a wire play space when our dogs were smaller. The clips that were used to hold it together look somewhat like the end of a leash that attaches to the dog's collar. They work great to secure the sliding door lock on a wire kennel. After a month or so of using the clips, Marcella doesn't even try to get out anymore even if we forget to put one on.

Good luck!

lol, this is hilarious!

I too would go with the lock option. It's probably the only way to stop it!

Cheeky boxers!

i love my babies very much but apperntly they don't have what it takes to brake out of their crates (we call it their room :), but they don't sleep in there they are only in there when we are gone) but anyway i can't believe your baby can open the door from the outside!! i know a lot of people on here talk about their babies breaking out from the inside but from the outside!! that is pretty amazing :) i am sorry i don't have any solutions for you though - GOOD LUCK.

that is hilarious, My father in law had a boxer thta died about a year ago, that little guy could open almost anything, unless it had a pad lock, he could undo latches, he would unscrew screws with his tounge, just everything you could imagine. There was a few occasions where they had to leave him at the kennel when they went on long trips, and everytime they left him they had to warn the workers, because sure enough everytime he was there he would open his cage, and then walk around and open all the other dogs cages and cause a real scene.

How about a carabiner...

About the door against the wall thing...my last foster used to actually slide his crate along the floor...I think he wanted to see out the window and couldn't from where his crate was. Of course, he'd crash into a post and then not be able to go any further every time.

It was hilarious to come home to.
