Wow, how heart wrenching. I am glad Jake is doing better and glad that you gave him a second chance by getting a second opinion. Luckily, the second vet helped out.

Way to go Jake appicon

Hello again . I didn't forget about all of you kind people. We had left on vacation May 12. So here is an up date on Jake, not so good but there is still hope. We left Saturday morning for Myrtle Beach. Friday Jake was in good sprites, Saturday afternoon Jake was not himself. Saturday night Jake was vomiting again something he was not doing for about a week. Sunday poor Jake didn't do anything but lay around so Monday morning we called the Vet back here in PA.Vet prescribed more meds to stop his vomiting. Well by Thursday Jake was a little better but now he was swelling up in his belly. We called the Vet again about the swelling Vet told us he was retaining water. He would like to have us get him to a Vet in Myrtle Beach asap. Well that was not going to happen they could not see Jake till the following week so we packed up and headed back home to be at the vet first thing Friday morning. Vet took a sample of the swelling from the water in his stomach and told us that now he could see for the first time with his own eyes what is going on inside of Jake.[as the other test results from the pathologists were inconclusive. that was from 3 different pathologists] Well now we know Jake has cancer of the liver not a common thing for a boxer to have in the liver only, so I was told. So that Friday at 9:00 Jake had his first Ki-mo theory treatment. All went well so for he has his good days and bad. Jake now will go every Thursday for a treatment till he has his fifth one. The Vet will then take a test on his blood or something to see if Jake is fighting this thing called CANCER. So till then we pray every night And I want to thank you all for your prays.

This is such a heart wrenching story. Our 4 yr old baby Nala had the same symptoms as Jake. She also had blood in her Urine though. We took her to the vet, and she spent 2 nights on IV's and some medications. The vet also started to notice Nala's belly was swollen, so he sent us to a specialist, for more testing. When we dropped her off, we got a call about an hour later saying that they found a hole in her intestine, and the fluid leaking from it was causing her stomach to bloat. She had emergency surgery that night, and made it through. Her first day of recovery was rough, but on the second day, she walked some and actually ate some baby food, and drank some water. Unfortunatly she passed away that night. The toxins in her system from the intestine leaking was what she couldn't fight anymore. 2 days later a liver biopsy came back positive for cancer. The vet thought that she may have had a small tumor on her intestine, which ruptured, causing the hole, but couldn't say for sure that this is what caused the hole.
As I was reading your post, I was debating wether or not to tell you my story. I am new to the board, and really didn't want to scare you, or come off as a jerk, that is being negative. It just concerned me when you said that Jake's stomach looked swollen. Our regular vet didn't detect the hole, but the specialist saw it on the the test that our regular vet took. We are not blaming anyone, but if the hole was detected earlier, that would have been less toxins in Nala's system. She would have then had to fight the cancer though, and I'm not sure if she could have taken that. I know it would have been hard for us to watch her go through it, after a major surgery.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake. I hope all turns out well.
