My baby, the daycare bully?

Also, she has received all of her shots (the breeder's vet gave her some shots that are good for a year, and don't need a booster until then), and we haven't really let her play with any unknown dogs. We introduced them at the park where we take her, and at the store we are pretty cautious. We would hold her back and while many dogs would bark, she would just hang back and stare. We leash her at all times at the park, but basically she just chews on her toy and occasionally says hello to a passerby.

First of all I would take her to the vet for an evaluation on the shots she's had so far. Your set is no where near complete at 9 weeks. The breeder that "gave her some shots that are good for a year" did not give the propper boosters to your pup. Puppies need 3 sets of shots, the last being given at 16 weeks along with the rabies vaccinne. if they are not given in the correct order your dog is not protected! I would not be taking my dog out to the park or any where near other dogs until that age. Puppy diseases are no joke.:(

More to the subject. Like others have said the growling and mouthing is totally normal. My dogs are 6 months old and 9 months old and if you listen to the audio of the above posted video and crank the volume on your computer to the max, that's what my house sounds like several times a day. I'd suggest finding a daycare or playgroup with more Boxers and people who understand how they play. She is by no means a bully. :)

They sure do sound mean when they growl and look mean when they box, at least to someone who doesn't know them. Our last boxer Rascal taught his best buddy, Caesar the rottweiler to box. They were both such vocal dogs! We have a not too dog friendly neighbor who used to watch in horror as they would wrestle, crash into each other, spit, snarl, growl and play. Of course afterwords they would cuddle together. Or take turns sitting and catching popcorn (a favorite treat) kernels as they were thrown. Loud, messy, fun loving. They are the best!

Rue

What we meant to say when we wrote was that Rue is as up to date as she can be with her shots! The kennel that she goes to is the same place that we go for her training classes. They arrange the play areas to allow the similar age dogs to play to together as puppies. They also copy all vet visits to assure that the puppies are up to date on what shots and other treatments they need are done. What my daughter was writing about was the Boretella Vaccine that Rue was given before she came to us and our vet was saying that the type she had been given was an annual vaccine.
Rue isn't yet in doggy daycare but goes once a week for a couple of hours for socialization in the puppy play group and as we mentioned she didn't seem as docile as our daycare provider had thought she would be because they have met her before. We were statisfied with all your replies that her behavior was normal for her breed and we took several of the replies to the daycare for them to read and understand. We do feel that is just as important for Rue to learn to socialize with other types of dogs besides the boxers and to learn her manners. Maegan and I are very happy with the way Rue is behaving and we love her to pieces!!
Please continue with all your information because you are going to be our trainers!

Just curious what daycare your bringing your pup, a name will do nothing more specific. I have been bringing my girl to All Dog's Gym and I have to admit they are not the best people to work with for active boxers. There are a few there but I swear they can't be 100% boxer because they are the most well behaved boxers I have ever seen. I did hear good things about the Barking Dog as far as with boxers, but have not gone there yet.

Personally I have a totally new take on Doggy Daycare since I worked at a kennel in NH that offers everything.
Personally they will have 60 - 70 - 80 dogs all together in a majorly large group. No, some of the workers don't like it when the dogs get too playfull with each other, don't understand that cause , I thought that was the point of Doggy Daycare, bring your dog so they can play all day and be tired at night!?
Well I brought my dog in to work one day, he loves other dogs, well he was attacked in the first minute by a golden then a Jack Russel latched on to him because it was mayham. I felt so bad after that. He was traumatized, I felt so guilty all I wanted was for him to beable to play with others.
He did settle in to the group, but then I started analyzing the situation and sorry but I would never put my dog in again. I saw dogs that were so timid and scared , as heck they should be , being thrown into a group that big. There was one boxer and he was so scared and timid, if I knew his owners I would tell them not to bring him because to me he was just to stressed all day. He starting lashing out at dogs especially if they got too close to me and him, cause I would stay close to him to help him be calmer.
If you have a lab that is just goofy playfull then they do fine but there are dogs that I just see stress written all their faces and I would never want my dog in that situation again.
Would you want your kids in a playgroup with 50-60-80 kids for 8 hours, no way.
I would really ask how big the groups are before bringing my dog. There is one kennel that I have heard very bad things about that I wish I had known cause I had boarded my dog there before. Now, I feel there is really no good kennel out there.

Dham can you please post the kennels name, I'm pretty sure its not against any rules as long as you don't give specifics or any contact information. I'd hate to bring my baby to a place that a BW member would advise against. I realize that its just your opinon and will take it for what its worth. Thankyou

Sendaishi is the Kennel I was warned against. I worked at American K9 and a former employee of Sendaishi told me that especially during the holidays they pack in dogs by using crates piled 3 high and on weekends they do not do doggy daycare so if you request it you will be charged for it but your dog will never get it. Cause the girl said to me, I hope you didn't request Doggy Day Care cause your dog didn't get it, same went for the nature walks they offer. I guess they have a hard time keeping help cause the owner (wife) is really hard on the girls. I guess from people who show , the husband is really tough on the wife if she doesn't place 1st in the ring and will mentally abuse her once she leaves the ring. I know Diesel would smell everytime he came home.
Plus I guess some guy took his dog home and he couldn't barely move and the dog was taken to the vet and the vet said his thoughts were the dog was put in a crate too small for him for the days he was there, that nobody has any truth so it's hard too say.
They are set up for 180 dogs but when they run out they pile crates 3 high and put dogs in crates and will have up to 350 dogs. Also they do not let people outback to see the area. I did a long time ago get outback but when I asked this time I was told no. They give the excuse it will upset the dog.
350 is insane because American K9 has 40 runs and if they have an overflow will put small dogs in cages and 1/2 runs but not many (like 10). They are good about dogs getting out 3 times daily on their own in a playarea. I know I worked there on weekends 6 am - 6 pm.
So now I am trying All Dog's Gym. I feel lost has to who to try, unless you work at these places you just don't know. I asked them how many dogs they put in Doggy Day Care together she said they can have up to 80 dogs but they are split up into age and personalities, they have 5 areas to break up the dogs. I told her I was fine with Doggy Daycare but I didn't want Diesel to get into another fight cause I feel it will ruin him whenever he meets other dogs, he'll just be on the defense thinking he will be attacked. I was offered a job at All Dog's Gym but I took one at the Emergency Animal Clinic in Manchester instead. I didn't board at American K9 cause they are booked months in advance. Plus I didn't want him in their Doggy Day care cause they pack 50 - 80 dogs all together no matter what their personalities. No way , not for my dog.

funny I just drove by the emergency animal place (about 15mins ago coming from Derry), do they have an ambulance service because there front door looks like it?

No they don't have ambulance service. They are moving into a brand new facility this Wednesday , if you were to go at the end of South Willow, around the bend by the triangle mall, go by Harvey Rd. there is a new facility on the left right across from Air Gas. It is two clinics in one. A specialty animal hospital and us the Emergency clinic.

yeah that was the one I was talking about it looks like they got big sliding doors and a spot where an ambulance would pull up that looks like a people hospital. Anyways good luck in the new facility, I am going to stop by and check it out one of these days (since one of my trainers is 1000ft down the road) I'm fairly happy with my vet office they are so nice its in Goffstown, but if I were to have a need for any major surgery I'm not sure if being a "nice caring person" is enough to let someone slice my baby. THnaks for info
