I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, I happened upon this story & thought I'd send it to you =)

"Memories"
For if a dog be well-remembered, if sometimes he leaps through your dreams actual as in life, eyes kindling, laughing, begging, it matters not at all where the dog sleeps. On a hill where the wind is unrebuked and the trees are roaring, or beside a stream he knew in puppyhood, or somewhere in the flatness of a pastureland, where most exhilarating cattle graze. It is all one to the dog and all one to you, and nothing is gained and nothing is lost -- if memory lives.

But there is one best place to bury a dog. If you bury him in this spot, he will come to you when you call -- come to you over the grim, dim frontiers of death, and down the well-remembered path, and to your side again.

And though you call a dozen living dogs to heel they shall not growl at him, nor resent his coming, for he belongs there. People may scoff at you, who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, who hear no whimper, people who may never really have had a dog. Smile at them, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, and which is well worth knowing.

The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master.

It has not rained here for several weeks.Today the sky I felt was crying. I got on my knees early this morning to ask God to give me strength to get through this terrible day.My beloved boy Mugsey is gone,he feels no more pain
and he is again whole and running on white shores.I want to thank everyone on this board for their support.Hug your babies and give them a big kiss from Ripley and me,again Thanks God for this board and all you beautiful people.

I too feel your pain as I lost my KOKO on Tuesday this week. Don't think of it as a "terrible day" but as a day your freed your beloved Mugsey from his burdens and pains on earth. He is now free to watch over you until you join him at the bridge someday to make that final crossing together.

Run free, Mugsey, with KOKO and other new friends at the bridge.

it is hard to let go your most precious friend, but in the end it is a very noble thing to do. Be comforted with that knowledge. Be strong for your friend. And if you're up to it: give him his final shot yourself. I did so with our baby Slash, and it felt like I owed him this. We wish you all the strenght in the world!
