I have a question about my little lucy. she is nine months old and pretty much potty trained except that once in awhile at night she will get up and pee on the kitchen floor then wake me up. Im still working on this though. We are moving soon to a house with carpets (we have all hardwood now) and Im afraid she will start peeing on the carpet once in awhile. I dont know how to break her of this. She sleeps with us and like I said 98% of the time she will sleep all night and not get up, but that once in awhile she will just get up and go pee wherever.

I've heard that when you move, you will probably have to start potty training from square one. It will be a new environment for your pup, and she will need guidance in order to know where she can and cannot eliminate. Most likely there will be accidents on the carpet, so I'd invest in some carpet cleaner (I believe a lot of members recommand Nature's Miracle -- I believe that's the name).

I would say that for starters, she should sleep in her crate in the new house. And like mancin said, just go back to taking her out at regular intervals and make sure that you are right with her all the time (maybe tethered to you) and if not, that she's crated.

Even if she only pees inside every so often, she still thinks that is okay, so she needs to learn that she should NEVER go inside.

Thats what I was afraid of Haha. I have been so happy how well she has been doing that I thought I was past that. Guess not. hopefully she will catch on quick :)

How well my baby did!!

So we drove down to Florida this weekend to check out our new house and I must say first that Lucy and her brother did great on the 18 hour longggg ride down there. They slept most of the way. of course Lucy had to sleep in the front with us. Second. I thought the carpet would be a problem for her, since she is not used to it. But she did great! never peed on it once. She did have an accident on the tile floor only one night. that was great for her. and we even left her in the house loose with her brother when we left for an hour or so and she didnt even go then. (although she surfed and found a new lock set hhaha) but all in all i was very proud of her!!! she's growing up so nicely lol.

I have carpets and lke Nature's Miracle- it is suposed to mask the scent so they don't keep going back to the area. I also use Capture- from Home Depot.
