movin' up to an SUV!!!

Well I have finally gotten my husband to look at new SUV's!!!
I started out wanting a jeep wrangler until I drove it. While at the jeep dealer I drove the jeep liberty sport. what a cute suv!!
it was very nice and drove real smooth.
does anyone have one?? if so like it or hate it??

we didnt bring ot home but we are leaning more towards getting it than not...and with 0% financing..it is looking better and better.

I can relate with getting and SUV and having a boxer...We actually bought our Xterra for our dog and had a dog cage installed for safer traveling! I hope you and your furrbaby enjoy the new vehicle!

Well we have a new Ford Explorer XLT and I love it, although with the third row seat folded down, it makes the dog crate sit on a little bit of an angle. but my new puppy loves to ride in the SUV. How about the Ford Escape, that is nice too but smaller then the Explorer. I still have trouble parking the darn thing..Good luck

i have a Liberty Sport and I LOVE it. In fact, when I replace it, it will be with another. The only thing, it does ride a little rough, but after all, it really is a truck and I don't mind that much. I haven't had a single problem with it.

We also have a Ford Explorer XLT. So far, we love it very much. The folding back seat is very nice, it gives you alot of room to put stuff, such as feed or dogs!

When I was shopping for an SUV I also test drove a Wrangler and a Liberty. The liberty was better than the wrangler, but I still wasn't thrilled about either.
But, after test driving every SUV out there (Or at least almost all of them:rolleyes. I finally decided on the Toyota Highlander.
I've driven Toyotas for a long time now, and I've never had a problem with them. Plus, after the accident I got into a few years ago, I consider them to be much safer than any most other SUVs out there. But that's a whole different story...
Anyway, I've had mine since 2001, and I simply love it!! Coal loves it too!! There's plenty of room for Coal, his pillow, and all his toys. :D

I drive a Ford Exploder oops I mean Explorer

I love the Explorer because of the size, loads of cargo space for the dogs, but it is a gas guzzler and a maintenance nightmare, and drives like a truck unlike other SUV which drive more like cars, but it now has over 100 K on it so thats part of the problem.

I think I will go with a Nissan Pathfinder or the Toyota Highlander next time

When we went shopping for our first SUV this year we test drove Ford Explorer, Ford Escape, Chevy Trailblazer, Chevy Blazer, Saturn Vue, Toyota Rav4 and Honda CRV.

We bought the Honda CRV and could not be happier. I am currently getting 25mpg on highway and 22mpg in the city. I didn't need a SUV with a monster engine since the largest thing I haul is 2 people and a Boxer with all their gear.

They are definately worth checking out, I have the EX model and it is green. A great vehicle for the price, durability and ride.

I don't have an SUV yet, but hope to get one some day. I have two options to consider. 1. Need a pickup to haul hay, and an SUV for every day. If I choose this, I'll save up some money and buy an old pickup with cash. Then buy a "starter" SUV, possibly a Toyota RAV4. Approx. cost for both $25.000.
Option 2. Buy a Chevy Avalanche, which can be converted back and forth from an SUV to a pickup. With all the special offers recently, I've seen the price go down to between $22.000-$23.000 in the newpaper ads.
Since I don't know much about the RAV4 or the Avalanche, I'm looking for a rental car company that rents these. Then rent each for a day or two to find out if I like them or not. Sometimes the test drives are not long enough. This way, I can check it out completely before making a decision.

I too, after checking them all out, selected the 2003 Honda CRV. I absolutely love it. It is based on a car platform (Civic) and rides like a car, not a truck. One of the reasons I didn't like the Fords or other SUVs. Too much like driving a truck. Yuk.

I drove the Liberty and didn't like the rough ride. Honda is much smoother. Plus Honda had all the features I wanted standard. I didn't have to add anything. With the others, it would end up costing me MORE than the Honda to get the features I wanted. Plus, Jeep is a Chrylser product, which in my opinion, are the WORST built cars on the road (Mercedes excluded). To me they are rattle traps and big buckets of bolts. I would never buy a Chrysler product. Big waste of money in my opinion.

Good luck with whatever you end up buying! They are great with boxers. My two absolutely love going in the car and they each have room of their own where they like to sit/lie down, etc.
