Movie Eight Below

I have a question for those who watched this movie... maybe I missed something but I wanted to know if there was a reason for them leaving the dogs tied up outside...why did they not place the dogs inside??

I never even thought about that before. The only thing I can think of now is that either: a)they didn't want them wandering off or b) their thick coats were so used to the cold that it might be too warm for them inside and they may shed a little prematurely.
Dunno, good question though.

OMG - is it a good film - I BAWLED like a baby!
It's with, I think his name is, hottie??? J/K - the main character from Fast and the Furious...nice looking!
Anyway - the movie is about a guide in Antarctica who has to leave base camp w/ the rest of the crew and how they had to leave the dogs behind because there wasn't enough room on the plane. Well - a big storm comes up and the dogs are stranded...
That's all I'm going to say - but we watched it this weekend and I was in tears for half of the movie...animal movies really get to me - more than people movies!

I thought it had something to do with their coats. I wondered the same thing. I would have thought to leave them inside and just make the rooms as dog-proof as possible. However, in the movie, even though they brought the dogs inside for awhile, during night-time, they took the dogs back outside to sleep.

I believe they were left outside because of that particular breed's ability to keep warm in the snow (they bury themselves in the snow to sleep and stay warm).
Awesome movie!! When I watched it the first time, I went out and bought the DVD when it was released! I've watched it 6 times already!!

I bawled my eyes out, too. :( Hubby even teared up. Hubby said it was worse (sadder) that "Old Yeller". He was glad he watched it, but said he didn't think he would watch it again because of the sadness. For those who haven't seen it, it is not sad all the way thru. I would recommend it as a must see for all dog lovers. Based on true story.

I knew the reason of the coats but if they knew the bad storm was coming which they did why didn't they just bring the dogs in just in case besides the fact they knew it wouldn't be until next spring when they would go back....Sorry but it still doesn't make sense to me but then again I wasn't in their shoes and I'm sure there is more to the story then they could put into the movie. It was a good movie but I can't bear to watch it again it's too sad.

I Cried like a baby!! It was a great movie!! Plus it has Paul Walker in it that makes it Oh so much better. I love the dogs in the movie. so sweet

I haven't seen the movie yet, will have to do that soon. I agree Paul Walker makes it sound even better.

I am assuming the dogs are huskies? I knwo huskies can't handle the heat and have to be kept cool to prevent them from getting sick. At least that is what I have been told :confused: I would imagine they would be able to adapt to the warmer climate of being in the house but if they were working dogs that were outside, they wouldn't be able to adapt that quickly. I really need to see the movie as I have no idea what we are even realy talking about here :rolleyes:
