My Bodi is strictly indoor, but even his "duty-trips" to the yard result in dozens of mosquito bites. They don't appear to bother him, but they look awful and swell quite a bit. Anyone have any suggestions to prevent him from being the neighborhood snack?

my vet recommended advantix and seems to do the trick pretty well. It treats ticks and mosuitos i think and maybe even fleas.

We have a mesquito problem here in South Texas which is really bad, so I started asking around for solutions. A friend of mine said she uses Cutter by Off in her yard, so we bought some and it works!!!! You attach the bottle to your water hose and spray away and you only have to do it about 6-8 weeks. I swear by the product it works even when you spray your doors down with it to keeps moths from comming inside ( I LOVE THIS PRODUCT)!!!!!

Hey Andie... those dryer sheets, for skeeters... they should be taken orally? LOL I am sooo joking! My guy always tries to eat them. He lunges into the dryer now when I open the door!

Vanilla oil does work to keep skeeters away, but watch out for bees! And gnats love it too! I used to wear it. I smelled good, but looked quite funny running circles around the yard from the lil buzzers!

Just this morning I gave Luke his heartworm prev. meds. Now he'll be lethargic and have the runs for the next week. Gosh I dread this summer, being extra bad for mosquitos and ticks!

Garlic works great too. A little fresh garlic added to the food goes a long way to keep skeeters away. I hear you can even rub garlic POWDER (not salt) on your kid in a few spots to help. But it might make you have a strange craving for lasagna. :)

Also, I am a mosquito magnet too. I have 3 of the Off Lanterns in various spots in the yard. I light them up every day when we go out for playtimes. They work like a charm & have a good 15 foot radius.

I was afraid to spray my yard b/c mine can go in & out all day when we are not home & they eat too much grass. Was afraid it would make them sick.

You can get these floater tablets at Home Depot that you can put in any places with standing water. But make sure they are where the kids can't get em.

Just got this in the mail, its from www.DrWeil.com
Not sure if these are alright for dogs as this was for human skeeter repellent. Maybe some one here could tell us.

You can also try mixtures of essential oils, such as pennyroyal oil and eucalyptus. These are moderately effective if you're not dealing with really thick swarms of mosquitoes. In places like Alaska or Minnesota, where mosquitoes can be overwhelming, I would use insect repellants containing geraniol, a plant-derived substance, or Neem oil, from the Indian tree Azadirachta indica.

Our house backs right up to a heavily wooded creek so the mosquitos are just horrible. Last year we tried some of those tiki torches... what a waste of $$ . The skeeters don't ever seem to bother Lexi really...I guess that's cause they are too busy chowing down on me:mad: . I that Cutter stuff safe for the dogs? Lexi likes to munch grass so much, I'd hate to spray something that wasn't safe.
