Boxer Pal
Our 1.9 month old fawn boy has been vomitting
every morning after his breakfast.

we wake and take him on a 45 minute walk
and then return home to feed him his breakfast -- (eukanuba puppy
food to 24 months)

he eats and then vomits a few minutes later. the whole meal.

we though he might be eating too fast, so we have been feeding him in courses, small portions every minute, so he doesn't wolf it down in
one gulp as is his normal routine.

otherwise, he's perfectly healthy and happy. and he doesn't vomit in
the afternoon meals or dinner. just morning.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

I don't know if this will help, but how long are you waiting to feed once you get back from your walk? If it is immediately after you get back, try feeding him about 30min. or so after you get back. You also may want to look into feeding another food other than Eukanuba. Good luck with everything...im dealing with Josi throwing-up bile this morning so I feel for ya:)

Well, I'd suggest that you feed him a better quality food. Eukanuba is pretty low quality and contains a lot of things that dogs find very difficult to digest. It is likely that that is at least a part of the problem here (and besides which, decent nutrition is important).

For information on how to select a good quality dry food, it's worth visiting our feeding page here at www.boxerworld.com/feeding No food can magically be any better than the ingredients used to make it, and that page tells you what to look for, what to avoid, and why. With that information, you should be able to make a reasonable assessment of any food you look at, based on the ingredients used to make it.

And for information on the ingredients of 500+ dry dog foods, some ratings and reviews, you could visit www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews You'll find Eukanuba reviewed on that site, but it won't be amongst the premium foods ;) I'd suggest browsing the 4 and 5 star categories for suitable foods for your pup (in dry food, puppies should be fed something that has around 22-26% protein, which renders the 6 star foods on that site suitable for adults only).

Beyond changing his food, you may also find that feeding him his breakfast first thing - before the walk - helps quite a bit. A lot of dogs end up vomiting if their stomachs are empty for too long, and it's possible that that's a factor in your guy's upsets.

I agree with changing the food. Hugo was doing the exact same thing around age 2. He would yack up his food every single morning. From what we were able to find out, they sometimes just develop an intolerence to some ingredient and can't keep it down. As soon as we switched his food, the morning vomitting stopped. Now he's on Wellness, which has also made a big difference in his ear allergies!
