Mistaken Identities?

Hey guys!

Just registered a few days ago (introduction is in the intro forum), but wanted to ask you what your Boxer has been mistaken for?

Being an 11 week flashy brindle puppy, apparently NYC thinks my boxer is a Boston Terrier! :rolleyes:

When my pup was younger I was asked if she was an American Bulldog and also if she was a Boston Terrier!! hehe silly people.. Little do they know that boxers can never be mistaken for anything but themselves! :p

Kikka's been mistaken for a bulldog and a pit bull. I also had a man ask be what she was mixed with and I of course replied nothing. There have also been lots of people who knew she was a boxer.

Yes, and as your boxer grows you'll get even more of a variety of breeds. Some people may think it's a pitbull, some may say bulldog, some (I don't see how) may say it's a great dane!! You may even get asked if your boxer is a mini boxer (which of course doesn't exist). At some point, some people may assume that your baby is vicious simply because boxers look like a rugged breed.

Some of these people may say it as an insult or to just be plain out rude while for others, it may be a simple mistake or lack of knowledge. The only thing you can really do is to try to educate the uniformed and look forward to meeting other boxer owners who are have experienced the same things.

Pitbull is the common one our guys get mistaken for or a long nose boxer? Which of course doesn't exist.

Well no, a long nose boxer, is not a specific breed of boxer, but I actually have seen several long nosed boxers, since we got ours, and I joined this board and talked to folks. Apparently it is just bad breeding. But boxers non the less. Sure looks interesting next to the smooshy faced ones, but luvies just the same.

No one has mistaken my two (yet). I think it is brindles a lot more than classic fawn that people get confused about.

Oh yeah, my Krose is so vicious that kills stuffed animals and barks vigorously at me and Baris for not paying attention to him, a warning bark that if he doesn't get any attention, he will stay in front of TV all nite long!!!! some people...

Murray's been mistaken for a bull mastiff, pitbull and bulldog.

Pit Bull and American Bulldog are the most common, but Finnegan who is white and you can see the black spots on his skin through his thin coat has also been mixtaken for a Dalmation - go figure :p
