Hello
I am new to the forum and was so happy to find it.
Just lost my 10yr old boy , Lucky to cancer a few weeks ago and it was as hard as loosing my sisiter the week before.
Who raised boxers also.
I have a 9 yr old female ,Dutchess who is my constant companion and we are both still grieving for our boy.
Today we went to see him at his burial place and it was as bad as I knew it would be.

Now on a more positive note, I know am a stay at home person who enjoys gardening and spending everyday with my dogs.
I never spent a night away from my Lucky , if I went on vacation he went with me and my girl would stay at my sisters across the street, she is her auntie, LOL

I have already had a few health issues with her and am trying to decide if I want to get another boxer.
OK I know I want to , but I believe that when you get a animal , you think into the future, and take into account you have this large child who walks on four legs but is your responsibilty the same as your two legged children.
All decissions I make in my life take that into account.
Anyway , I am not sure yet if I will get a puppy or I am thinking I would like to save a boxer and give it the love and friendship it deserves.

I wanted to just look around and talk about boxers and maybe find what I am suppose to do next . There is no better dog then Boxers though I would say Danes come close, but the size has challenges :) .

I look forward to reading your posts and learning more about the boxer world and wish I had seen this forum earlier. Thank you

Welcome from Dutch Country PA! So sorry for the loss of your boy. It's hard I'm sure.

No better place to get your boxer fix than here. I would suggest rescuing a boxer. There seems to be an abundance of them in shelters, some euthanized because the rescues are full to the brim. This is a sad time for pets losing families due to various reasons. Im an advocate for rescuing, and with three of my own, they sure do appreciate the second chance.

Hi welcomeicon to Boxer World where we love our fur babies and we'll love yours too.I know how you feel i also joined this site when I lost my 8 yr old boy my one and only I was such a mess and at times I still am.It's been 6 months since I had to put my boy to sleep and the heartache that it caused was horrible and still is.I just got a new baby my husband could see me slipping backwards instead of moving forwards,he said it is a must in our household to have a Boxer. When we went to see some puppies I really didn't feel any connection with any of them didn't want one from that litter but my husband saw this one puppy and wanted him so we got him poor little guy as soon as we got him home I wondered if it was a mistake to get him.I wondered if I would be able to love him,I felt like I was betraying my Boozer's love, but I was the one who had to take care of this little guy and it didn't seem fair.We have had our little guy for 5wks now and he has snuggled into our hearts, well mine anyways he stole my husbands at 1st site hehe.He has really helped me with the loss of my boy.His name is Wiser we named him this because Boozer was our 1st boxer and we only knew what the books said and Boozer taught us so much about his breed that we decided that this little boxer will be Wiser than Boozer because Boozer already taught how to love so deeply.I hope in time you will find another love and it won't take away the love you have for the one you lost.Best positive vibes sent to you.

Hang in there.

Hello, I know how you feel. I lost my 12 year old on Easter. I'm still devastated. The only thing I can say that keeps me going for now is I will revisit the idea of another boxer in the fall. Now is too soon for me and I couldn't possibly go through puppydom again so maybe a 1 or 2 year old rescue. The house is just so quiet now and I hope I can wait that long. You know boxers, they are very gregarious so the void is even more evident.

Hi

And welcome from myself and Roge,I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister and Lucky, I am glad that you and Dutchess have eachother to lean on .It would be great if you could find a place in your heart to save a Boxer and in time it would help heal the hurt of loosing Lucky. But only you know when the time is right for this .

I saw a Boxer/ Dane cross on craigslist just yesterday.
I adopted my Boxer from the list at 15 months.
Many people are looking to rehome at this age
for one reason or another.

Welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry for your loss - it's alwasy so hard to lose a loved one, whether skin or fur. I would get a rescue from a reputable agency. I've decided that I'm too old for the young puppy thing. We just adopted a 9 1/2 mo. old brindle, Dempsey, and he's a mess! He's worming his way into our hearts, though, and I think he's going to be a good dog, once we straighten out his behavioral issues (part of it's puppy; part of it's lack of socialization). Good luck in finding your next best friend!
