Boxer Insane
i have already posted about the family problems i have been having ...
http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63343

but what is said in that post doesn't even come close to what is happening now. my mom wanted to take my grandpa up to his house this weekend so that he could just be there; who wouldn't want to go back home and see his family for a full weekend, ya know?! so once he gets there, he, of course, wants to visit with Copper. he got Copper whenever my grandma died so that he wouldn't be in a country house all by himself. well my boy cousin (chris) who now lives there tells him that in order to see Copper, Papa has to go outside! WHATT! an 83 year old man with a horrible chest infection has to go outside of HIS house to see HIS dog! there is nothing right about that sentence!

my mom was really upset about this, everytime she talks about it, she gets choked up. so, she left (Papa wanted to stay) and came up here to visit with me. well my aunt (who is also visiting the house), called up here to say how tired she was of running around with Papa's errands (keep in mind, she has only been down to where Papa is now living once and has taken off of work because "she was tired" but could NOT take off work to take Papa to his eye doctor - so my mom is doing absolutely EVERYTHING for him, it is really taking a toll on HER)! and here's the strawbreaker; Papa wanted to use the phone to call my mom (he is very upset about everything goin on but he doesn't want to say anything) and my aunt told him that he could NOT USE THE PHONE in HIS house becasue my cousin chris was now paying the bill. that pissed me and my mom off so bad that she just hung up on her, not before giving her a piece of her mind though. i don't know how many times my cousin chris walked inside of papa's house and grabbed the phone to use it, without asking papa and without papa questioning who he was calling!

i am so mad that my cousins are doing this to him. they know that if my Nanny was here, she would not be letting this happen. so i miss her dearly right now. she was the most awesome person i've ever known to this day. she was very christian (but not overly) and loved to go to church on Sunday's, she always made her famous sweet tea for the after-church luncheons, she loved her grandkids *and everyone else* to no end (and we all knew it) and this is how my cousins are repaying her.

i don't know whether to say anything to them or just let it go and just not go there to see them or what. they are living in the house now, so i'm obviously never going to the house i have been spending christmas and thanksgiving at for the past twenty years, anytime soon. and if i do go, i have to keep Asia outside or in the back room (i do not think so)! this is just really taking a toll on me!

when my grandfather (dad's dad) died, our family fought over who was getting what (still is, actually). he was a wealthy man and has many prized posessions that my cousins are fighting over...what is more distressing is one of my cousins is fighting for the piano from the other one, when the cousin who is fighting for it has a baby grand sitting in her three story waterfront house! my grandmother went down hill quick, too. she now has alzheimers and is in a nursing home...

so here i am going through this now. everything was okay, but now my grandfather is being taken advantage of...i could write a gazillion pages on how pissed off i am about this but i won't! :) my mom is working on finding a home for Copper; he is a sweetheart so she wants it to be with someone that we know. if he doesn't find a new home by the time Mark and I move into a house (february), we will take him. mark loves copper and copper and asia would have a lot of fun together i'm sure (especially with a backyard). i don't even know if chris will let that happen but i'm sure that i can find a way for it to...

i guess i'm just asking for prayers that things will get better. do you think i should write my cousin a *nice* letter explaining to him why i think he is wrong on this or should i just leave it alone? im so confused, this is frustrating...

sorry so long, i need to vent to someone because mark is at work and asia is sleeping (haha)!

Super Boxer
Greed and selfishness has taken over some of your family members and it's really sad. I agree...take the higher road and stay true to it. Those family members, living in that house will see the light of day and the errors of their ways. I just hope they see it before it's too late so that they can rectify it. I don't mean to sound cold but the same thing has happened in my family so it's hits really close to home. Stay true to yourself and your grandfather. Do everything you can for him, whole-heartedly and everything will work out. My heart goes out to you that you're having to deal with this...it's amazing how some people can act...and to their own kin! Keep us posted.
