Military Working Dogs

Grunt here. My mommy and I were watching K9 Boot Camp this morning while she ate her peanut butter and marmelade toast for breakfast - I was under her chair, mostly watching her eat her toast because sometimes some of it drops on the floor and I get a treat and she doesn't even know it! Anyway, my daddy says that boxers are military working dogs, too, even tho' all they ever show on TV are the German Shepherds. He said there was a boxer MWD when he was in Viet Nam. Mommy asked me to say a few words today because it's Veterans Day, and because my daddy named me Grunt to honor the troops. Please say thank you to a veteran today, and say lots of prayers for our troops. We know a nice lady who is taking care of a boxer because his daddy is in Iraq. Thank you.

Gunt - this is Clover, I just wanted to say thank you for your wonderful post. My mommy's boyfriend is in the Air Force, he hasn't faught in any wars, but he always tells me he is saving the world. Today I might just do what he loves best, give him big fat boxer kisses right on his ear, I think he deserves it.

Grunt, this is Toni. My daddy was in Vietnam too. He doesn;t like to talk about it. I didn't know today was Veteran's Day. Thank you for telling us. When my daddy gets home tonight I am going to give him extra boxer hugs and kisses. Mommy did tell him thank you for being a veteran this morning but I didn't know what it meant. I sure am glad you explained it to me. When mommy and I say our prayers tonight I will add an extra one for our troops.

Hi Grunt, this is Ozzy. My daddy was actually deployed to Iraq today, I'll miss him, but I'm so proud of him, especially on Veterans Day. I'll make sure to keep all of our troops in my thoughts and prayers today, and say a special prayer for all the military dogs as well.

We have a bunch of friends who are serving and have served in the marines. here's what the Marines did here in Utah...Marines

I hope they do this every year from now on!!

Ozzy-Pooh and the gang here. We are going to say a special prayer for your daddy and everyone else that is deployed. I know that you will miss him so much. My daddy is a veteran too.He tells Mommy sometimes about how he used to fly the hurt guys out in a helicopter. What is that? Stay strong, you can do it.

Grunt-thank you for your post. My mommy told my daddy and my grandpa thank you today,too. I'm saying extra special prayers for everybody and for the MWD to.

here in Canada its Remembrance Day. My Mommy was watching it on tv today. She watched people from all over the world putting wreathes on the war memorial downtown and at 11 o'clock a man played a trumpet..and Mommy got really quiet for a minute. She sang our national anthem and watched the veterans from WWI and WWII walk through the downtown street followed by cadets, air force, marines, army, foot cadets, a band and bag pipers. Then when the ceremony was over, all the people in the crowd that were watching gathered around the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier downtown and one by one placed the red flowers they had pinned over their hearts onto the tomb until it was completely covered. I think Mommy said they were called poppies. Mommy said Daddy's dad is a Peace Keeper in our Army.

Grunt, this is Charlie Paper. My mommy's boyfriend is in the Navy, and even though he hasn't been shipped out yet, Mommy says he will be soon. Thank you for the nice post about remembering to thank the veterans. Also, I'm named after a German Shepherd who fought and died in Vietnam, who's name was Paper, so while our Mommys and Daddys are thinking of the human veterans, us canines should think of our fellow canine veterans, and not forget to thank them too.

Hi guys, Grunt here again. Mommy read me all your posts. Thanks for letting me know what's been happening at your houses today. And thanks for bringing up that we should remember the MWD's who fought and died, too, and who may even be out there right now on the battlefield, only we don't hear about it. We have our heroes, too.

Ozzy, you must miss your daddy so much, and I bet he misses you a lot, too. We can all send boxer vibes to him, and also to Charlie Paper's mommy's boyfriend, so they will feel warm in their hearts. Daddy said those and prayers help a lot. He's a skin grunt, so he knows about stuff like that.

Rocky here,
My mommy used to be in the Air Force and from all the pictures on the walls so were a lot of our family members. I am happy she is not in anymore so I do not have to worry about her, but I think that the people who are in serving deserve the most awsome rewards for their sacrifices. Boxer kisses & wiggles to all the past, present & future veterans out there!
