We microchipped both our boxer & minpin. It is a little chip about the size of a grain of rice, that has a serial number on it. It is inserted right around their shoulder area. The chip is registered with the company and is recognized across North America and when your dog is found, a vet / humane society will scan the dog. The number comes up and they call the centre which has all your information. If you ever move, you can call or email them with change of data. Now we never ever had to use it, but it is good assurance. Besides, it was a whole lot neater and cleaner than the tatoo and if your dog is stolen, no one knows it is there whereas a tatoo may be tampered with. When our dogs were fixed the chip was done at the same time so the cost was quite minimal.

Us too. When Elsa was spayed, she was microchipped. I believe this is one of the most important things you can do to try and protect your furkid. My vet has numerous stories of furparents and furkids being reunited because of the microchip. Just like the commercial for a credit card: Knowing that you are doing everything you can to keep your furkid safe: Priceless.

I was very skeptical about the microchip, but then talked to our vet who voiced her concerns about the number of pets lost/stolen in our area. She said it's not only completely safe and reliable, but that she also would have strongly recommended it if I had not brought it up. So when Dakota got spayed 3 weeks ago, we had her microchipped as well. I am very happy we decided to go for it.

About once a year there is a spate of dognappings on the island and the police have yet to find those responsible. The police say the dogs are drugged and taken from peoples houses or when out walking, so you even have to keep an eye on your dog when you are walking him, not let him out of sight! Its really awful, so you can imagine we didn't hesitate to put a chip in Crosby, I was more traumatized by the experience then Crosby, he acted like always with injections, like it was nothing, like it was just another boring shot!

Its one of the best things you can do for your baby ...it not only has your info ...who to call if you can't be found ...but I also put on our info "no Acepormazine"
in case he gets into hands that don't know any better...The cost is nothing compared to what it can do for your baby ...maybe save their life...!!

Military

Sketch got microchipped as a pup still at the breeders, and we registered him. They consider him a military dog because we are military and we got a discount on the registration fee, which is already cheap enough as is. We love the fact that he got chipped. If we lost him, I don't know what we would do.
