Boxer Buddy
Happy New Year to all my fellow boxer lovers.
I haven't been on here in a while. 2013 was a difficult year for us. Filled not only with personal issues but our beloved George( our brindle boxer) passed away in August. It was so incredibly hard to say good bye to my best friend, and even now as I write this, I find myself crying. George was 11 1/2 yrs old and was the light of my life. He will forever hold my heart.

Back in November, my husband started to say we need to get another boxer for Max( our 4 1/2 yr old brindle boxer). George and Max never got along, and it was always a juggling act to keep them separated. I really didn't want to get another dog for a couple of reasons. The first being my concern for Max who finally had freedom of the house, and we were finally getting to see his true personality now that he was an only dog and I didn't want to chance having the same problem we had with George and Max (even though it was all George since he didn't get along with other dogs) and have to live the life of becoming a prisoner of my house again, having to keep them apart. Also, part of 2013 was my being diagnosed with lupus and not knowing if this was going to be the best decision for my health.

But so the search began! We welcomed Gretta into our family and hearts on November 23. She too is brindle. I truly believe George sent her to me. She has some of his looks and some of his quirky personality. We had tried to get a couple of other boxers before this one worked out, but I think its because we were meant to have Gretta. Max loves his new sister and the 2 of them play non stop. I am so happy my husband encouraged me to open my heart again!!

So here we are again, back on the roller coaster of life with boxers and I couldn't be happier. My heart still aches for George but I know he is happy, running around and free of pain and waiting for the day when we will once again be together. Until then, I know he is with me and watching over me and I try to find comfort in that.

First sorry for your loss, I lost my Baby girl Struddell (avatar) last year and I miss her dearly. Dog to dog intro's have to be done with care or you will have issues!

I found myself in that boat when I added a GSD to my Boxer and Bull/Mastiff mix. It sounds like you kept them both safe and should be proud of yourself for doing so.

And finally as you see boy/girl pairs are always easier! And lastly...welcome aboard! :)

Welcome back! I'm very sorry for your loss, as well as the health issues you have faced. I think your to be highly commended for how you handled your situation with your boxer boys. I know two females are not recommend but It seems the majority of the boy pairs seem to be fine with each other, so I'm sure you were not expecting that situation at all :(

but your an amazing pet mommy to have made it work. SO many people feel they have to resort to re-homing one of the dogs because of that issue, I'm sure it's tough. That's a huge challenge. But your my hero...wow. Lol to deal with health issues and still keep up with 2 dogs who don't get along AND make it work so everybody stays in the home is absolutely incredible. You should feel so proud of that accomplishment :)

I'm sure you have pics posted from before, but I can't wait to hopefully see some pics of your babies !!! Although their work, having a puppy in the house is so fun, they grow up so fast but their so worth it, congrats on Gretta !

Thank You for the new year wishes.
You set a great example of a good Boxer parent. :)
It's refreshing to hear that you turned your sadness into compassion and have adopted another dog.
The rewards are greater with all that new energy in the house?

So sorry for your loss and congratulations on your new girl! Somehow the positive energy of a new furbaby can really lift the sadness of a loss.

We also added a new furbaby (although not a boxer) and he has done wonders for my spirit and my health, too. Somehow watching the antics of our new boy with Bandit and Lola just makes me feel better even though I am usually quite uncomfortable dealing UCTD, also an autoimmune nasty but not as severe as Lupus:(

Hoping you are feeling well and enjoying your furbabies.
