Mean people suck!

I can't help but take it personally when I hear comments like that. My Jake has a black face full of wrinkles and a coworker said that he's going to grow up to be "even uglier." Nice, huh? I get the "he's too skinny" comments and so on. I take it personally because they are my kids, plain and simple and I think that it is terrible manners to make bad comments about someone's dog, kids, whatever. But, I do count myself extremely lucky to be loved by two such awesome dogs and it's those poor people who are missing out. So, they can go on with their misery. To me, you have to be unhappy yourself to make comments like that about someone's baby. Fur or skin. Shoudln't matter. I think every Boxer I've every seen is SO gorgeous, mostly because I know how they are on the inside. Ladyluck is right, it wouldn't matter one bit how they look anyway but we all just got lucky!

I get told my dogs are ugly all the time but it doesn't upset me. I don't need the approval of others concerning my dogs. I find them cute.

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. It's a matter of personal preference. For instance, my neighbor has a longer muzzled dog. (I won't mention the breed so as not to offend anyone) This dogs muzzle is so long he looks horselike. I guess I prefer shorter muzzles, wrinkles, and bug eyes.

I may be biased but I think boxers have very cute faces. They look sad most of the time but I love the little head wrinkles and the floppy jowls.
I hold Oscar's jowls when I give him kisses.

Just for the record: Konah, Katie, Magoo and Jake are the most beautiful Boxer babies that I ever seen. Oh, I wish I could give each of them a big kiss right know … gorgeous, gorgeous faces….

This reminds me of when we first got Hannah. When my sister in law saw her she didn't say much but apparently told her daughter they grow up to be really ugly dogs. Of course my neice repeated it to me. My sil was horrified that I found out what she said. The funny part is she loved Hannah to death and was just as heart broken as we when we lost her. She loves Micah and Jigs and is always saying how cute they are. I have such fun reminding her they grow up to be ugly.

I have to say I'm kinda glad lots of people think our boxer babies are ugly. I know I know!! :eek: If more people thought that, then maybe people would STOP breeding and causing so many problems for the breed! Maybe I'm just trying to see the silver lining...

I think it's hard to not take it personally, just because we all love our babies so much! The main point here is that some people just have NO manners or common sense. Jen is right--if she didn't have something nice to say, why did she have to say anything at all? Some people need to belittle other people (or their dogs/houses/work/etc) when it is unwarranted in a sad attempt to make themselves feel better. So maybe we should feel sorry for these people that are mean, have no common sense, have no manners, and have such low self esteem that they have to cut down adorable dogs!
