Poor Max. That is horrible, I wonder what is the cause for them to keep coming back? Ginger had this twice and each time was bad, she needed medicine, maybe the same meds your Max is taking and she got a steroid shot, I think. Both times she was stung by a yellow jacket. In fact the 2nd time I never knew anything until I came home for lunch from work and saw her with the huge bumps and I flipped out! I was lucky to have an understanding and dog-lover office manager at the time. I called him and said I would be a little late due to what was going on. I know most employers don't really care, especially if they don't own a dog. I gave her a Benadryl, but when I came home she was no better and had to take her to the vet. I keep benadryl in the house just for her just in case. I have not heard of any other antihistamines you can use on dogs. Maybe someone else will know. Hope Max is doing better today and sending him positive vibes that he never gets them again.;)

AUNatalie-we have talked to our vet about allergy testing, and she said just to wait because this might just be a one time thing. He had a reaction of hives when he had his second set of puppy shots, and benedryl got rid of them that time. His third and fourth set of puppy shots he got an allergy shot with, so he didnt have a reation those times. But Darla, our vet, said that if it keeps on going for longer than a few days, then we would think about allergy testing. But if it goes away and stays away, it might just be a reaction that he might not get again. So I guess well see what happens with him. He hasnt had any benedryl since last night before bed, and he still doesnt have the hives back, so they might be gone for good, well see how it goes. Linda called me at around 1 saying he was still doing good and hive-free. So hopefully they are all gone for good. Well have to wait it out to see if he gets any more.

And Linda, yeah I wish my bosses were sympathetic...I even showed them the pictures and they were shocked that a dog could get hives. But deep down they could really care less. My one boss doesnt have any pets, so he doesnt understand, and my other boss has a Bichon that goes to the vets weekly because he is so old, but still he doesnt care about my dogs. You would think he would, but no luck there! Jerks!! lol!

Well I'm still crossing my fingers that they stay away! Thanks for all the good vibes everyone!
