Rocky's dad weighs 125 and he is a pureblood Boxer(CKC for all that's worth) He is not fat, just tall and broad and muscular. Rocky is 8 months and weighs around 75 pounds. I think that there has to be some mastiff in there somewhere. Rocky is trim, broad and muscular already, I can only imagine what he will be like in the second year:eek:

Even AKC registered does not guarantee a purebred dog. People will lie and cheat to any degree for money. There are many many scandals on issuing registration numbers to dogs who aren't even who they are supposed to be.

I don't mean to be sarcastic, well, yes I do, but that is why I put CKC registered for all that's worth I know how people scam others and was aware that there was something else more than likely in him when I got him(I am aware of boxer standards). We got him 2 days after Jelly Bean passed because we were all depressed, especially Apollo. I was not going to lose Apollo due to Bean's passing. I appreciate your effort to educate others though BTW, I don't register my dogs(Apollo is AKC and Rocky is CKC) because it is not important to me, I just love the breed and want companions. I do feel that there needs to be more responsible breeders and BYB are dangerous as well as igorant to alot of health issues, moral issues, etc.

My neighbor's dog, Rory, is huge- probably weighs approx. 135 pounds. He is a mastiff/brindle boxer mix. He is the giant version of Sam & Sally!

My Dh saw the owners yesterday and they said he was 100% purebred boxer and that he was so big because he was eating homemade food. I know my DH's rotti was very overweight and he was eating steaks and other homemade food everyday.

I guess the clarification should be ...

Was the dog 135 lbs because of height / size / muscle or 135 lbs because it was very overweight??

If its overweight, it could very well be pure boxer, just an unhealthy one that needs some exercise and a restricted diet!

I feel sorry for the poor thing...Boxers aren't meant to be that big- 80 lbs is pushing it. Its not good for their joints, heart, ect....
