News on Oscar...

Not much to report, which is probably a good thing. Oscar's chest xray was clear. The lymph node aspirations were unable to be done, our vet was unable to find any large enough to stick a needle in. This is usually an encouragement that the cancer has yet to start to spread, however, there is no way to know for sure. I have to call and make an appointment for the oncologist today, hopefully they can get us in sooner than later.
Our vet was encouraged by these developments. We are cautiously optomistic.

Again thanks to all that have been pulling for our beloved Ossie...and us!

Was able to see an oncologist on Saturday morning. Short and sweet. Oscar started on the melanoma vaccine and the oncologist and my vet are going to discuss if it would be of benefit to perform more surgery to get larger margins. We are feeling a little better about things, not so much about our oncology visit, but just the fact that Oscar is showing no ill-effects as of now and all we can do is enjoy our time with him. It's very unlikely he will be with us as long as we have planned, but we are doing everything we can for him at this time. Not to be a Boxer snob, but, the delight and fun he has brought us over the short time we have had him seems greater than with any dog I've been around(non-boxer). It's not fair to him for us to mope around about the inevitable, he wants to have fun and create mayham NOW! We might as well join him!
Again, thanks for ALL your thoughts and positve vibes.

I saw that vaccine on the news tonite and thought of Oscar. I'm glad he was able to get it and I hope it brings many more healthy days for him.

Cautiously optomistic is all you can do. Boxers are indeed special little angels and we are fortunate to have them share their time on earth with us :) Enjoy every minute and make plenty of special memories on your journey together no matter how long or short it may be.

I continue to keep those good positive vibes going out to Oscar and his family. You're right....if he's feeling good, enjoy the heck out of every single moment.

Oscar is doing quite well. We have been struggling mightily with antibiotic induced diarrhea. He did have second surgery to obtain cancer-free tumor margins, which was successful. He is about to get his third melanoma vaccine this Sunday. More on the diarrrhea(a true boxer story!), we got it all cleared up with flagyl then he went and ate a hot wing sauce soiled napkin and it returned so we are going through the boiled chicken and potatoe diet which is getting him back on track. But, he doesn't get as much food on that diet so he's been eating misc. things around the house that has me worried about about a bowel obstruction. So that is our biggest concern at this point, just hoping the poop keeps coming!
