I know how you feel - I just got Mack back from the vet about an hour ago. He got a foxtail up his nose and had to be sedated. I was sick to my stomach the whole time - thinking he is frightened and feeling sick and *who* are all these strange people and why am I in this cage. I couldn't WAIT to get him home (He is fine.) :)

But Dan, maybe you and I could go into business together, professional worriers, inc.

I have trouble sleeping, so I have extra time to worry and I am *very* good at it!

Poor Mack.....I'm pleased he is okay :) - Foxtails look horrible.

Hugs to you and Maggie. It's natural to worry over our babies. Try to keep a focus on the positives. ;) I'm fretting Oscar being neutered and that's a few months off. :D Please let us know when she goes in and how she's doing.

Hugs!!!!!

Dan-

Maggie will be fine. We had Megan done a few months ago. The vet didn't keep her overnight she was there at 6am and they kept her for the day and home about 6pm. It went very well and much to my surprise the following day at noon you won't know she had surgery.

The vet did give us a list of things for her not to do. After the first day I decided that I couldn't keep her from being a puppy and if something happened I would deal with it. Not sure why the vet thinks a four month old puppy is not going to run, jump, climb stairs etc. Luckily for us it came off without a hitch.

I worried over it too. I'm a worry wart but, all came out well and Megan was a real tropper, as I am sure Maggie is.

Boxer kisses from Roxy!! When we had our beagle, Rambo ( I know it was the '80's :) ) spayed the only thing I really had to worry about was trying to tell her she just had surgery. She wanted to jump and play and I was so worried!! Had to put the "collar' on her and she was so embarrassed. I think back now and realize that Roxy has been depressed with her heat about as long as Rambo was with her spaying.

I'm sure that everything will be fine when Maggie is spayed, but I know how you feel. When Travis was nearing his neuter date I was getting worried too - even though I have confidence in the vet and knew it was the best thing. But how can we not worry when our dogs are like kids to us!
Keisha is in heat right now (thankfully I JUST had Travis neutered!) and as someone posted earlier being in heat is no picnic for them either (and AWEFUL messy). It is good that you are having her spayed before she goes into heat.

Don't worry, you are doing what is best for your cute little Maggie - she's a lucky girl to have such a great daddy!

Hope all goes well for you and Maggie on Monday.

Believe me, I know how you feel. I made Lexi and appointment twice and cancelled both. My vet finally called me and we talked for a long time and I told her my fears and she was wonderful about the whole process. So, we finally had it done and she was well over a year old at the time. She too stayed over night as a precaution and I paid for the extra pain meds just because I wanted to make sure she was out of it while she was there. She did extremely well and we used the laser surgery so her recovery was alot easier. We have a group called Spay Inc. here and they give a discount for spay and neuters. Lexi's spay was around $100 and that was for everything (including the extra pain pills). It was only $20 to neuter my male cats...what a deal :D But a spay is a major surgery. Good luck and she will come through wonderfully. It is hard to be away from them. My vet requires they stay the night before too just so there is no accidental ingestion of food or water prior to surgery!! Good-luck and we will be thinking good thoughts for you.
