Mad Border Collie

My wife and I own a border collie as well as a boxer.

Our Border Collie (Holly) enjoys playing fetch with a rubber ball.

My question is how long can she contiuosly play the same game, our record so far is 3 hours in the dog park followed by 4 hours at home.

Is this normal or is she hyperative.

Sounds like my German Shorthair Pointer Gus. The only time him and his ball are apart is when he eats. He even sleeps with it in his mouth. He makes my boxer Biscuit who is very active look like a sloth when it comes to his energy level.

Sounds very normal for a border collie :) I know a woman who does border collie rescue, she states the number one reason they are given up is due to their constant need to work and tireless energy levels. They excel in flyball, you may want to look into it. We have a mix that is starting flyball on the 4th of March and I'm hoping she can get out there and hang with the border collies. She was portrayed as a sheltie mix but we believe she may have some aussie or border collie in her. She runs around the backyard with her tennis balls throwing them up in the air and catching them, throwing them up in the air and catching them. I've never seen a dog who can entertain themselves for as long as she can by herself, alone with her tennis ball :)

My wife and I spoke with our local animal shelter and they told us exactly that, most working dogs are dumped because they take up to much time, As far as I'm concerned thats the best thing about them they get you out of the house.

We have a Border CollieX, Abbey, and that dog LOVES to run!! Holy cow..she just goes crazy til someone play chases her, then she has TONS O' fun.
