Any news of the fisher cat? Can you call animal control about it? Oh my God! I just googled that thing and it is crazy looking. Looks like a badger! I was not sure if you were being dramatic about the blood or nicked facial artery. I am amazed Miss Mable made it out of that fight ok. God bless your baby! Please do call animal control about that thing!

I just did the same thing Dora, I got the idea from you. And that is a vicious looking thing! Thank goodness Mabel had a Mommy that wanted to protect her just as much as she wanted to protect her Mommy!

What a nightmare!

We have Fishers in our area, though more in the woodsy areas. There is one stuffed at our Bird sanctuary (it was hit by a car, they stopped & had it stuffed). The one at the bird sancturay is quite a bit larger than a fox, more like a coyote. :eek:
I can't imagine what you & your baby went through, but what a brave dog!!!
We'll be thinking of her & sending healing vibes!

Poor Mabel...What a horrible experience for her to have to go through. How is she feeling now? I just want to cry along with you and give your baby a big hug. If anything attacked Layla like that I don't know what I'd do. It must have been so bad to have witnessed your baby in that situation. I bet it keeps flashing through your head. Thanks, everybody. Mabel and I really appreciate all your good thoughts.

I'm leaving in a few minutes to go and bring her home. I talked to the vet this morning and she told me we were VERY lucky it wasn't worse. The knick in her facial artery was pretty bad, but it wasn't severed, and that was the worst of the bites. She has a puncture wound on her throat and on her chest, and the bite on her leg went down to the bone, but it was just one tooth mark there...not a full bite. She's been stitched and rabies boostered and they say she's bouncing around like they'd expect a Boxer to bounce, although she is favoring the bit leg a bit and she's rubbing her face on the crate. She'll need an e-collar for a few days. I'll take pictures for Mabel's gallery. OY.

Thanks again, everybody. And really. Watch out for those Fisher cats. I can't believe how aggressive it was. <shudder>

(we live in a very woodsy area, though, so if you live in the city I don't think you'll have to worry too much thank goodness!)

WHOA! I checked out the fisher cat and those are not cats, but real varmiints. They look more like big badgers to me. Mean looking varmints at that.
