My boxer boy, Tyrone (5yrs) has just been diagnosed with lymphoma. This started back in August when a few of the nodes in his neck were swollen, but now all are hardened (painless), though he is still actiing like his old, silly self! Have done a lot of research on various vet med school's websites and prognosis is never good it seems. We are about to start chemo next week with a single agent (doxorubicin), hoping to put him into remission for awhile.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I have 8 boxers (all rescues!), including an 8 yr old male (Prince)with a suspicious mass next to his lung that a thoracic surgeon won't touch. So far he's doing better on prednisone, but I know I will probably lose him in this next year. Two at once is devastating. We just lost our first to cancer last Feb.
Any info or advice will be greatly appreciated.
(Need to change my handle to "eight is enough"!
Thanks Jae

I have no advice, but wanted to send healing and healthy vibes...and <<<hugs>>> to you!!

I'm so sorry to hear about the diagnosis. We lost our 2 year old to lymphoma last January. My only advice would be to do what you think is best. Your right, it can be a very aggressive disease. Stay positive and enjoy every moment with BOTH dogs! :) Thinking of you...

We lost Cassius to this disease last Dec. (7-1/2 yrs) after being diagnosed in Sept. and after the 4th chemo. treatment. His condition was complicated by an irregular heart beat.
We approched it to do everything in our power and what finances allowed to treat him and give him every chance possible. We researched the conditon on the web as much as we could and considered lots of approaches. There are many stories on the web that tell of how their dog went into remission several times to live a few extra years. We wanted to get as much times for him as we could so long as his quality of life did not suffer. Unfortunately we were not granted very much time. But we know we did the best we could.

I wish you the best and hope the chemo gives you better results.

I want to start by saying you are pretty amazing to have opened your home and heart to the 8 babies you rescued. Bless you for that. I am so sorry to hear about Tyrone. I don't have any experience with this or advice so I just want to send some (((hugs))) and let you know we are here for you. There are lots of memebers who have been through this and I am sure they will have tons to share with you.

Hang in there Jae!!!!

Jae, so sorry to hear you lost Prince and that Tyrone is sick as well. I haven't experienced Lymphoma with any of my dogs but I agree with Elyse that you will find lots of info and support on BW for this journey. Sending lots of boxer hugs and kisses your way!
