So after talking to Joeys vet we both agreed to put Joey back on prednisone everyday for 7 days and then see if we see improvement in the lymph node that is swollen in his groin area. I gave him his dose this morning which he hasn't had since Saturday and was due his dose today anyway and I am thinking maybe the swollen lymph node is a bit smaller. I was actually really worried about him this morning when we got up for work. Joeys has not once lost his appetite and this morning he didn't run for his food bowl to beg for breakfast, first he drank a lot a water then slowly ate his food. I was worried sick all day but when I got home he was all wiggles and playing like a goofball.
Like you experienced Gus's folks ...... it can all change so quickly. I kept your post in mind as I called vet first thing yesterday morning wanting to take action as quickly as I could.
Thank you to all for the healing vibes, thoughts and prayers, I will continue to keep you posted.....
Yeah, Joey!! Good to hear his appetite came back. I hope it stays back and that lump shrinks to nothing.
If you don't mind my asking, how much does Joey weigh? Gus is about 60lbs and we're giving him 40lbs of pred daily. That high dose is probably has as much to do with his weight as it does the aggressiveness and stage of lymphoma he has.
Ask me anything, any info is so helpful to us right now . Joey is 75 lbs..... He could've gained a lb or 2 now since we are guilty of letting him have a lil more breakfast and more bites of our food ( I know this is not a good thing for him but ....) I want him to eat while he still wants too. Joey is stage 4 :(
Joey still continues to be doing very well with the prednisone but we still can't get the lymph node in his groin are to go down :( he is still very active and he is keeping the healthy appetite so we are very happy that he is doing as we'll as he is.
Gus's folks .... If your are reading this know I am thinking of you every day!
Thank you, Joey's Mom. We're so pleased to hear that Joey is still doing well, except for that lumpy lymph. What a champ! Keep up the good work and get a few boxer kisses in there for us.
Sorry it has been so long since a check in, I have missed seeing you on here.
Joey is still doing so awesome ..... It is AMAZING how well he is doing ..... I ( as well as his doctor) can't believe how well he has done since his diagnosis. He is still on the same 20 mg dose of prednisone per day. He still has the same swollen lymph node in the groin area which is pretty large right now and has been for quite some time ......but that is the ONLY sign of the cancer....he still has decent energy and a very healthy appetite..... I can't believe he is still showing very little signs of being sick.... Having said all of this I am preparing myself for when the time comes, I know things can change very quickly.... It is hard because I know what is wrong with him but he shows no signs of the illness.... I fear when he does start showing signs of the cancer progressing he will go down hill fast :( we are just enjoying EVERY DAY and hoping and praying for the best ... Thank you for checking in with us. I still think of you every day!
