Hi All,

I just wanted to post a message here to give you all updates on Troy (6yr old reversed brindle boy). Some may have seen my intro message the other day, but for those that did not.

I found BW while doing a search for lymphoma. 2 weeks ago, Troy started acting funny. Drinking alot more water, and he had a pee accident in the house, which he has not done since he was fixed years ago. That morning I took him to the vet and she gave him a complete work-up.

His lymp-nodes where enlarged and she suspected lymphoma. We had him tested a few days later we got the results to confirm it.

My wife and I weighted to options and discussed things, but with a new baby in the house it is difficult to commit to chemotherapy.

So last night we started his dosage of Prednisone, twice daily with food. After a couple of treatments, it seems like his appetite is coming back, because for the first time in a week he started playing with his food...

So as of now this is where we stand. I will try and give everyone updates on his condition and how we are all doing. I must say this, although we know he has lymphoma, it is amazing that he still the active dog he has always been. He still loves to run and play ball, mess with the kids and sprint to the end of the property and back...

Speak to you all soon.

I am sorry to hear about Troy!!! We went throught same experience with our 7-1/2 yr old Cassius. The prednisone seemed to help initially but eventually the concerns came back again once the dosage was backed off. Cassius also had a heart condition to consider. After much research we chose to go the Chemo route. This initially seemed to work but after the 4th treatment Cassius basically stopped eating and had had enough. I wish I had some advice but all I can say is I know what you and your family are going thru.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family!

Well,

It has been a few weeks since I have psoted on Troy's progress and mood.

Everything has been going well. He seems to have reacted very well to the Prednisone, his lumps are not really there anymore, but I know this only a temporary thing.

His mood has been much better, returning to his normal boxer bounce and spirit.

For now we are all happy he is somewhat back to his normal self.

I will keep you all posted as things go along.

Thanks for all the best wishes, Troy and the family needs them.

I'm sorry to hear of Troy's diagnosis. I can tell you from firsthand experience that chemo treatments are very tiring, for both the baby and the parent. It is amazing at how they act, even though they're fighting a horrible disease. It's a real testament to the spirit of our babies...Colby and Skye send Troy lots of extra special kisses and wiggles. Keep your head up!

This will be my final post in this thread. As many can imagine right now, Troy's has moved on to a better place. He is out playing across the rainbow bridge with some of his best friends...

After about 8 weeks of being on prednisone and having a great time playing with the kids and running like a horse, he took at turn for the worse over the weekend and my wife and I decided it was time to let him rest...

I just wanted to thank all of you for you support and words over the past few months and we will back soon...

Speak to you all soon.
