Lump on Dukes front paw and testicle

The vet called and Duke is out of surgery and successfully castrated. But.............The vet is concerned about a possible blood disorder? She said that when they took out the endotrachael tube that there was blood on the end of it. Apparently this is not common. She will talk to another vet in the practice to see what she thinks........As for Duke, he is awake and standing up in the crate trying to figure out what just happened to him. I will be able to get him tomorrow. The lump on his front paw was not removed today. They think it is more of a fungus or a bacterial infection. When he was under the anesthesia they scraped it for testing. He will need antibiotics and a fungal creme when he comes home. I am not sure what to think of this whole blood on the tube story!? It was only a drop or two, why would that be uncommon. Also he preop blood counts were totally normal. Oh well I will keep you posted.

The vet just called again. She is not worried anymore about the throat blood. The conclusion to that is that he is sensitive. As far as the lump on his now removed testicle, it was some kind of thickening on the tube from the testicle, nothing that would need a biopsy. As for his leg...........She thinks the growth could be 1 of 4 things. 1. a fungus-treat with creme. 2. and infected scratch-treat with antibiotics. 3. a hysteioma (spelling?) treat with steriod creme. 4. or a mast cell--does not think it is this. Will not know the results of the fungal culture for 3 weeks. If it is bacterial or #3 then it will start to visibly clear up from week to week. More to post as results come in. I cant wait to see him and get a big hug and kiss.

I'm not sure I'd be too worried about the blood on the tube, but then again I am not a vet. I know better to be safe and have had it checked out further.
When our past "Duke" was put under quite a few years back, the assistant(too new I guess) tried to put a a tube down when he wasn't quite under enough and scrapped his throat when he wiggled. The Doc caught what was happening, (and of course nervous Mommie was watching as usual), so they stopped and withdrew it until he was more sedated. There was blood on it and the vet checked his throat before inserting the other himself this time and told me he would be checking it out after the surgery to make sure it wasn't going to be a problem. Everything was fine it was just a scratch and he said that it was nothing to worry about. Duke lived to 11 with no problems with his throat due to this.
Funny thing is I had the same thing happened to me after a surgery, my throat was bleeding the next morning so I went to the ER and the Doc there said "I guess the anesthesiologist wasn't having a good day." Well It was a Monday.
Sounds like Duke had the same thing happen.

I got my Dukie back today. What a sight for sore eyes. He is now sleeping quietly and is relieved to be home. His front paw looks a lot better since they scraped it. Thank you all for your concern. Will keep you posted on paw testing developments.

Update on Dukes lump on front paw/leg. The vet called yesterday to check on Duke. His testicle flap is doing well. I have been washing and putting on the ointment 3/4 times a day on his leg. He also takes antibiotics 3 times a day. Anyway the vet said the peice of tissue they scraped off in surgery from his leg is turning colors......apparently it is an indicative of a fungus. she will wait another week or two and then identify it. Meanwhile she will call next week to check on the progress of the area on his paw/leg. But overall I am happy with his healling. He is sooooooooooooooooooo sweeeeeet!
