Boxer Pal
Hi everyone. I live in a nice sized apartment along with my spouse. A few months ago we were looking for boxers in our area but couldnt find any reputable breeders. So we ended up getting a Lab. Now she is 6 months (Spayed) and we are thinking of getting a boxer. WOuld getting another dog like a boxer require lots more space? I take the lab out for hr long walks almost every day and would do the same with the Boxer. What do you all think?

Hi and welcome to the board :)

I live in an apartment, and I have one boxer, but I personally know a few owners with two boxers who also live in apartments and their boxers just feel fine. The Boxer needs a lot of excercise and if you can provide them with long walks and excercise (and I am sure you can as you say you take your lab out for long walks) it will be enough.

Good luck with finding a boxer and good for you to do a research first! :)

I live in an apartment with one right now, but I will be adding another and I think we have plenty of room. As long as you get them out to romp and play, then they will be fine. Good luck in your search for the right boxer baby and a new friend for your lab.

I have two boxers and live in a one bedroom apartment. We have plenty of room (except in the bed :) ). Boxers require a lot of exercise. A few short walks a day is not enough for a boxer. You need to be prepared for that and find the time for some good vigorous exercise sessions with your boxer (as well as the lab).

Good luck.

Actually when I say "walk" that means that usually includes a long walk and then we play fetch untill she is pooped. So I think I can do the same types of activities with a boxer....?

My boxer puppy does most his activities outside and we have plenty of room in our townhouse. Also, having your lab and a boxer would give them a good playmate when you take them out for excercise because they'll naturally play with each other and you won't even do any more work than before. Go for it, I love my boxer more and more each day.....well, and my kitty too.

Exactly! That would be just perfect for a boxer.
You can also go jogging with your boxer or find anyone who owns a hyper dog like a boxer so they sould play together until they are tired nearly to death :D

I just moved into a two bedroom duplex. Boomer doesn't know what to do with all the room! (Then again, neither do I!) He's got a huge backyard that he can romp around in. We're going to work over the next month to see if I can leave him "home alone"...i.e. "roaming the house."

Cheers,

Well, I have three Boxers and and average suburban home and lot... not like it matters, as I have three shadows. I could very easily live in a 200 sq ft. studio!
