Just wondering how any of you might have dealt with this. My boyfriend and I broke up after years and now I'm moving out of our house and I have to leave Memphis with him. We will work out some sort of visiting schedule, but I'm going to miss my baby sooooooo much it makes me cry just thinking about it. Any advise would be appriciated. Thank you.

Oh what a sad story. How are you coping?
Breaking up with some one is bad as it is but youve lost twice.
Give yourself some seriouse pampering. You must be broken hearted.
I hope you get to see memphis when you can. Maybe time will heal and the hurt wont feel so raw. So sorry for you , sending some happy vibes your way.

My former employer had a Boxer, and he and his wife got divorced. They did the joint-custody thing for a while, but then the ex-wife moved away. I'm so sorry for your situation. I can't imagine how difficult it is for you.

My ex-boyfriend has a little dog that I just adore. I hadn't seen her in a couple of years, it was just too stressful to deal with my ex. Lucy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma about seven weeks ago, and her right hind leg was amputated. Last week she was having trouble breathing, so Brian took her in to the vet. Her chest radiographs showed tumors filling her chest. I was supposed to see her today, but I'm on call and ended up being in surgery from 10 AM until around 6:30 PM. I don't know if I'll get to see her before I have to go out of town on Wednesday, and I know she won't be alive when I get back. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I really regret not putting up with my ex in the past to see Lucy, because now it's too late. I lost two years with a terrific little dog, and now she's dying. Spend every possible moment with Memphis. I don't know your exact situation, but is there any way you can take him with you at some point?

I'm sorry, I know how hard breaking up can be and then add in a fur baby and it makes it tons worse. I have friends who have been broken up for 5yr and still have joint custody of their dog...each is married and have kids but they still switch the dog every few weeks.

This sounds terrible but my BF and I knew our boy would be an issue if we ever broke up or one of us had to move...that is the exact reason last Christmas we got another boxer....so now we have 2-one for each of us, even though they live together. Of course now we can't think what it would be like to separate:)

Maybe you can take Memphis on some play date or long walks. I would hope that your ex would see that it would be helpful to him and great for Memphis too.

Thank you for your kind words. I have taken Memphis for the weekends and thats the best I can do now since I'm staying with my parents for a while. I'm sure it will work out and my ex is being very good about the whole thing. Thank your for encouraging words.
