Our dogs have all kinds of toys, but what gets played with the most is an empty water bottle. We take the caps off first before giving them to them.

Guinness likes his Nylabones, his Kong, and the sterilized 'natural' bones (you can clean and re-stuff them much like the Kongs). He also sometimes likes to chew tennis balls, ropes, etc. When he was teething he liked the tougher blue or white Nylabone toys with the little bumps all over them (shaped like dinosaurs) and also frozen stuff which must have felt great on his gums (like the Chilly Bone, soaked in water and frozen - or a frozen stuffed Kong). We always had a ton of stuff around so there was always variety, and also plenty to grab to replace whatever "contraband" we might have had to take away.

Ellie loves Greenies and Tatie like them (they are both eating one now).

They both LUV bullysticks (some call them machosticks). They like their Nylabones but don't go crazy over them. They like their kongs when they have peanut putter in them. Sometimes they will even chew them when they are empty. Tatie loves dirt-clods but we REALLY discourge it - espcecially cuz she likes to bring them in the house! LOL!

Tonight they went WILD over raw broccoli. Tatie jumped and barked at it for 5 solid minutes (sooooo funny!) like it was a live alien before eating it.

As far as toys go - they both like a little yellow rubber ball with nubbs on it and a small tennis ball attached to a nylon rope handle. Tatie likes a little purple hard ball with bells in it and her hard wiffle ball too. She plays soccer with it.

Ellie LOVES her stuffies and is very nice to them. Her favorite is a pink dog with rope ears/tail that came home with her from her breeders. She has to sleep with her "baby" every night :)

They both love ICE CUBES and will go crazy for hours over them. Tatie will even hold her breath and go under water in the kiddie pool to get one out.

Hmmm...that's all I can think of right now...

I know my puppy is younger, but he already isn't very interested in his kong either...but he goes nuts over anything that will make noise while he shakes his entire head with it in his mouth, he has one that rattles...oh and his flashing ball gets his attention, it flash on impact & looks like a disco party hehe. Hope that helps good luck!

Thanks everyone. I will have to make sure to look for all of these suggestions the next time we go to the store. I did get her a bad cuz this morning and she loves it. She is running around the house squeaking it. What kind of bones do you all recommend? A neighbor got her some pig ears as a treat and they made her sick. She likes plain rawhides for a while, but she loved the pig ears I think becuase of the flavor. Thanks again. This is a great site!!

Be careful of pigs' ears if she's still housetraining, those can have loads of sodium, which makes them drink a lot more, which means more potty trips (OR more accidents). The same may be true for rawhide, but I think less so than pigs' ears. We do give Guinness rawhide (and he loves it) but we didn't start that until he was probably 9 or 10 months old, hadn't had any potty accidents in many months (so well trained), and always supervised as it can be a choking hazard. Also if he eats rawhide before his regular meal he often will hardly touch his food - so to ensure he gets his nutrition needs met, we try to make sure he's eaten first before letting him get at the rawhide.

Rawhide is a no no

Most boxers have a very hard time digesting Rawhide, so you should shy away from it, but they have the same shapes in pork at most stores. Dillon loved the turkey jerky. We found that we could buy him the big flavored nylabone (carrot flavor) and since he loves carrots, he had the entire bone finished in 45 minutes flat. I couldn't believe it. That thing is so hard and huge, I'm talking about the $7.99 one. Yikes. We got him one of the real bones that had a flavored coating on it and he has had it for probably 7 months and has barely made a dent in it and he LOVES to chew on it. You might give that a try.

I've heard a lot of horror stories about raw hide, too. (Thank God, when I gave them, I never had a problem) but I've heard of a lot of guys getting choked on them. I have had to fish down a throat to retrieve a half-chewed piece of rawhide, and that was no fun. If you do give bones, pig ears, or rawhide bones, I would definitely supervise them.

Carrot Nylabones are also Guinness' favorite flavor of those (makes for orange poop too sometimes!!). He did puke up a rather large chunk of Nylabone the other day, usually I don't worry or supervise those as much as the rawhide but I guess I need to start. I didn't even realize he had broken off that large of a piece - just glad he swallowed it instead of choking on it!
