Boxer Pal
We have a four month old Boxer/Border Collie mix. She has started chewing on everything she can get a hold of except her toys. We bought her a Kong (after much suggestion) and she does not seem interested in it even if it is stuffed with goodies. Does anyone know of a really good toy that will keep her interest? Thanks, our remotes and shoes appreciate your help!!

we just got Duchess a bad cuz. She likes her kong but went NUTS over this toy. If you can handle the hours of squeeking its totally worth it!

None of my dogs have been really thrilled with kongs, either. They will mess with them if I give them a kong, but it's not the love that I've heard about. I'm going to try to find a cuz because everybody raves about them, but what i have the most success with are rope toys. If I get a stuffed animal, Bain (a foster) destroys it in 2 seconds. Roxy does okay with stuffed toys, but everytime she gets attached to one, another dog destroys it! :( So, like I said, I usually stick with ropes. I did get a rubber tire that they seem to love.

They have sterilized bones with stuffing in them of different flavors (mint, beef, PB, etc.) at the pet store that my dogs go nuts over. They also have some bones with some meat and flavoring left on them. If I need several uninterrupted hours (Oh, Ok, or if Survivor is on and I don't want to be interrupted) then I get them one of those. They chew on them forever!

Brutus loves the Kong bone and also his little rubber tractor tire. He plays and chews on both constantly.

I have found a few toys that have passed the test of time. Well maybe not that long, but are still in the toy box after a few months.
*Bamboo has a line of nearly indestructable toys (check out ebay).
*Four Paws has a Rough and Ready line that is made of a rubber material.
Mine like the ring with the little knobbies on it (Petco and ebay)
*And for whatever reason, the very, very, very soft laytex rubber toys seem
to last for about a month or two...I usually have to superglue around the
squeaker because the laytex breaks down from overuse. Petco has some
really good laytex rubber toys. The balls (retail $1.99 to $3.99) are good,
but they have a three pack that has a shoe, a little barbell thing, and a
football that has knobbies (retail $5.99).
Do you see a pattern here with the keyword knobbies  Just don't what it is about the knobbies, but they L lovicon VE them. You really need to keep an eye on them with the laytex toys and especially till you know what they are doing with it. Oops, just about forgot about the Tirebitters line. They are like little hard rubber tractor tires and they come in 3 sizes (I think).

Bruno & Belle both love their Nylabones. They have two each.

Other toys that have lasted include the rope pulls (with peices of rope coming off all the time) and a rubber tire on a rope that I bought at one of the big pet stores. And Belle loves her Kong. Bruno doesn't bother with it, but she has fun.

Max doesn't really care much for toys.. he'd rather play with his brother. But we did find that he will chew on the dental toys, the ones that promote healthy teeth and gums... Coleman LOVES is rubber tire. They both like rope toys/bones, but they never last for more that ten minutes.

How about a nice big raw bone? Healthiest by far for your pooch and really cleans their teeth well.
