Longboarding with a Boxer

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with having a boxer (or any other dog) pull/run alongside a longboard/skateboard?

It's something I'd like to do with Clemmy. She enjoys running yet I can't physically run for long distances due to bad knees. I would also prefer to use a longboard instead of a bike or scooter as I can carry a longboard with me instead of leaving it outside. I'll also be using the long board to get around town (we're hoping to move to Portland in a year or so) so I won't be wasting my money if it doesn't work out with Clemmy.

Anyway, I know how to get her accustomed to the longboard and teaching her the appropriate commands but I need to know the proper equipment to buy for her. Right now this harness looks good to me but if anyone feels they have a better suggestion, feel free to speak up. I'm also looking into leashes with padded handles and possibly a bungee section. Suggestions?

My friend suggested an x-back harness despite my worry that Clemmy will be able to back out. She has personal experience with using them and says well-fitted ones can't be backed out of so we're going to go with that instead. I can always attach a line from her harness/leash to her collar anyway just in case.

I haven't boarded with my dogs, but so long as your dog is controllable (either commands or leash) you should be ok. A longboard would be hard to stop/slow if she decided to chase something for example and not listen. Guess you could just jump off too if your knees let you.

I have the Alpine Outfitters harnesses and like them a lot. But if I was you i'd go with the urban trail over the xback. With a custom fitted xback it would be very unlikely that they back out especially with the belly band. That said, the xback is a lot better suited for having the dog a lot in front of you with a less steep leash angle. If you think you'll have Clemmy at your feet at all or maybe to your side xback is going to pull up or off to the side and won't function like its supposed to. Its not suited for any type of correction either. Also your dog will likely get rub marks from it if not used properly.

Whatever, it doesn't matter anymore. Just found out my mom's boyfriend is letting his ex take Clemmy. Guess the fact that've been her primary caregiver ever since she arrived, even when the ex was living with us, doesn't matter. All that matters is what his ex wants. And they didn't have the decency to tell me outright.

I'm so sorry. :( That is a horrible situation, I can't imagine how sad you must be.

Maybe in the future you can open your home to another boxer who needs rescuing. There are a few boxer rescues in Maine that are decent.
