Lexi chewed my curtains!!!

Last evening, while we had company, I noticed that one of our boxers had chewed our lace curtains. One of them got 3 of them!!! But I couldn't find any material on the floor. We figured it was Minnie, our 16 monthold since my husband is now trusting her on her own while he's in the office working. And Lexi, our 5 year old would never do that.
WELL....I walked out into the living room this morning and there was stuff all over the floor. LEXI had thrown up her breakfast....and the curtains....string all over!!
We are in complete shock thinking she would do something like that. We were gone for 5 hours yesterday...Minnie is still in the crate and Lexi is free.
So, we are trying to figure out what happened. The only difference is Ruby, our other boxer is now gone. (She died on Feb. 14th.) So Lexi is left alone in the house while we are gone. (Minnie is in the crate.) Do you have any ideas what's going on??

First, I'm sorry for your loss of Ruby. Lexi could be having some seperation anxiety due to her loss. Now she has no one to "pal around" with when you're not home, because Minnie is in a crate. You can talk to a behavioralist to see if there is someway to ease her pain. She may just need some time to grieve. Good luck!

I agree with Gatorblu. You could try to leave some stuffed kongs or other "busy toys" like the Tug-A-Jug Dog Toy around for her to keep her busy while you are gone.

The reason, if there ever is one with a puppy, might be in a totally different direction.

At one point, Layla began chewing the wood blinds that are on some of our windows. What we finally figured out was she just wanted to look out the windows. She had become very interested in what was going on in the world and the blinds were in the way. She would get frustrated, start pushing on them, one thing led to another and pretty soon she would bite, then chew. So we raised the blinds so she could look out unimpeded and survey "her" domain. The chewing stopped immediately.

It might be your pup is now getting interested in things going on outside and the curtains are in the way or became a play thing while loolking outside.

Well, I think we figured out what happened and why she chewed the curtains. A couple/few days later, she had an episode where she started licking and swallowing and grabbing everything in site to eat..and chew. Come to find out she had reflux..and the vet said that dogs will eat anything to feel better. Long story...but we also found out that she was having trouble w/ her Iam's food. Basically, she is back to par now...so relieved.
I do believe she missed Ruby. there are toys out for her to play with and we have been leaving a gong for her too. Thanks everyone!
