Leias person
Boxer Pal
Hi, My name is Stephanie. I have been owned by Leia for 2 years now. I got her as a rescue. She was going to be taken to the humane society. Her story:
Leia (then Manooshka) was purchase by a soldier as a puppy. He was shipped out when she was just a few months old. He asked a neighbor if she would watch her until he came back. She said yes and never heard from the soldier again. She does not know if he ever came back or not. In the meantime, a year and a half later, her husband lost his job and their house was forclosed. They tried taking Leia with them, but she kept jumping the fence at the duplex they lived in, into the landlords yard so he told them they had to get rid of her. A friend at work asked me if I knew anyone who could take her. (I am known at work as the crazy dog lady because I raise Jack Russells and Hunt Terrriers) I said that I would ask around. The next day she told me they were going to take Leia to the pound and I said I would foster her until we found her a home. I went to pick her up and she was on this huge pinch collar and really think lead. I thought "this does not bode well". I took her home and let her out of the car and my landlords dog went after her chasing her down the road. Fortunately I live on 110 acres in the middle of nowhere so not much chance of traffic. I spent the next 3 days with her on a harness I bought her with her going everywhere with me. Finally on the 4th day I tried her with out the lease. She had bonded to me so much she did not leave my side. 2 years later, I am a happy Boxer owner, thinking about getting a second one.
