Buster just started lifting his leg and he just turned 9 months old. Now he lifts his leg everywhere - even when nothing comes out. He's still getting use to lifting his leg - hahaha.

Okay...I didn't REALLY mean that other doggies would "tease" Sirus if he never lifted his leg...it was a joke. ;)
Didn't think anyone would really pay attention to that comment...

The only time I think it's a hassle for male dogs lift their legs...is when they do it inside...and luckly...Sirus has never, ever done it! He does 'have' to pee on every single tree (even if nothing comes out!) when we go on our walks though...the thing that I hated about the squatting is the fact that he would sometimes pee on his legs (Sirus is white, so you can see the pee! gross!) and they would smell...that's why I'm glad that my boy finally started lifting...

Capone is 5 1/2 and he is not a leg lifter I have seen him try once or twice and he gets tried of holding it up so he puts in down.I think he is just lazy

Henry is 10 months old and in the 2 weeks we have had him, he has never lifted his leg and that is perfectly fine with me. I have heard of people with boxers several years old that never lift.

Mason was over a year before he lifted his leg. Now it is about 50% lifting and 50% squatting. He doesn't pee on everything we pass either so i guess I lucked out! :)

LOL...this is a funny thread! Spirit is 8mths old and does not lift his leg..he tries sometimes...but not quite. I think he pays too close attention to Xena and her squatting ability! (I actually thinks she sits most of the time...even in the snow....brrrr!) Then there's my mom's brindle boy, Spencer!! We have referred to him as "Leonardo PeeVinci", as he is soooo artistic with his "urninating capabilities"...winter being his most creative season! He has never lifted his leg and Mom, along with all who know Spencer, can only support his artistic creativity! :p

Ronin just turned 16 months. He's never lifted his leg or squatted either. He does this kind of fake "stack" where he holds his front legs straight and kicks his back legs out behind him. Sometimes he'll lean his body to mark something, but he doesn't actually lift a leg off the ground  Silly, silly dog :)
This is what Boru does most of the time. I call it a "manly lean" rather than a squat. ;)

Cyper lifts his leg constantly on walks. Forget about getting a heart moving walk in with him in tow. He has gotten a *little* better since being neutered in June which I am greatful for. I didn't have much hope since he was 5 before he was neutered. He used to just *rub* against things when he was out of pee.
Ewww!!! I felt so sorry for him when he was attacked though. He had a cracked bone in his left front leg and he lifts the left leg to go in the yard. The first time he tried to go out after we got home from the emergency vet he hiked up that left leg and tipped over. I cried so much he had to come over and make sure I was ok. I was so awful. I was wishing he was a squater.

With Otis, he started lifting his leg at about 8 or so months. BUT he only does it if he feels like it. If he decides to pee on the fence or bush or something, he'll lift his leg. IF he pees just on the grass, then he'll just squat. It also depends on how bad he has to relieve himself too. If he has to go really bad, he'll race out and find the closest patch of grass and squat.

BtW, Otis is 13 months old and nuetered
