Leave collar on puppy inside??

Should we leave a collar on our puppy while she is in the house? It seems she does not like it on when we take her outside. Maybe if we leave it on inside she will get more used to it.

Leaving her collar on indoors while you can supervise her is fine. But when she's in her crate, or you can't supervise her, it is better that the collar is off. Pups do take a little while to get used to collars, but unfortunately they're also a choking hazard (including in the crate) - so it is best that it is only worn when you can keep an eye on her.

She will get used to it in time though. And once she's going out on walks etc, she'll soon come to associate the collar with fun stuff

I take Luka's off in the house- I have one of those quick clip colloar- I couldn't imagine trying to buckle a collar on him... he gets so excited! He used to itch it like crazy at first, now he hardly does.

Yep Naked dogs inside! (especially when in their crates.. or no one is home) Our Nikki took a week or so before she stopped "crab walking" when we first introduced her to a collar. They will get used to it eventually. Good luck!

I have 2 boxers and as soon as I bring them back in the house from their walks during the day their collar comes off. My vet told me to do this because when we got our second boxer he had some hot spots around his neck from the collar staying on and rubbing against his neck to much and also the people who had him before us had is collar to tight. So we just take them off as soon as we come in the house. I think they like that more then having something there all the time.

Mine have those raw spots on their necks from their collars rubbing so I have started leaving their collars off most of the time unless we are going for a walk. Is there anything that I can put on their necks to make it feel any better for them. It looks uncomfortable... they dont actually scratch at it.

It's just bald -- it doesn't hurt, unless they really have scratched it. Probably what you're seeing is just healthy pink skin peeping through bald spots.

The hair generally grows back in a year or so.
