Tom

It's a great feeling to know that he is STILL improving!

Tom - How was your vacation?

Thanks again everyone for your support - it's working. Owen is certainly getting cheese - he loves the stuff! The squeakier the better :)

Well it we just finnished our two week course on the reduced steroids (we were giving half of a .25mg tablet once per day). He blood count went down a little :( He was at 51 and dropped to 43 this week... 43 is still WELL within the normal range, but it means that we can not lower the steroid dose for another 2 weeks.

He will remain on the same does for another two weeks and we will re-check again. His energy level is great and he is really nice and pink so we are not worried about him.

Steroids have some yucky side effects, and can cause liver/kidney damage, so I am hoping to get him off the steroids ASAP.

Owen has started to loose some hair from the steroids, and his muscle have become more placid, and he has gotten a distinct pot belly... Poor guy.

I wil give you guys another update in two weeks!

Thanks again for all the support and help with everything, you guys are really amazing.

Kysha that is good news! He is still well within the normal range and that is a positive thing, so we must focus on the positive! :D

Does he pee more when on the steroids? I had a girly here who was on them and peed a great deal. I had to monitor her water intake or she would drink/pee all day long.

I am very pleased with Owen's numbers! I have to remember that we have made HUGE steps forward and a small step back is OK and totally normal!

Owen 'pees like a race horse'!! The morning pee is the longest by far! He has given up with being a man and lifting his leg in the morning, he just stands a pees becuase he knows he will be there for a while!

He drinks a little more that Tegan does but not excessively for the amount of pee that comes out of him :) This is a normal side effect of the steroids that I was warned about from the beginning.

Well, Owen's blood count has gone back up to 46! I am so please with him.

So this week we cut his dosage in half yet again. He will now get, half of a .25 tablet every second day). We will retest his blood in another two weeks!

We are still making progress - so that's the most important.

If we don't get him off the steroids soon, he is going to be hairless :( Now with the colder weather upon us, the coat is a must.

I will give you all another update in two weeks (fingers crossed for good news!).

Great news!

Hopefully he'll be off those steroids soon and back to his lushly coated self :)

I'm sure he would appreciate a coat though!
