Well everything is staying the same...

We were back in the vets earlier this week and his RBC count is till at 25 - at least it hasn't gone down. They did another blood smear and he is still producing RBC's! It will be a long updhill battle...

His energy seems to be getting better! He has started to greet us at the door with a toy when we come home, and he following me from room to room! We now have toys ALL over the house again. The toys used to really bother me, but now it makes me smile because I know that he is feeling better!

We will go back in next week for another test to see where we are. I hope that he goes up.

He is eating, but becoming pickysmashicon Last week he refused anyhting I offered him, so I went out and bought him some kibble (Innova) which he wouldn't eat either. I think he's holding out for the good stuff! He hasn't missed a meal yet, and that's the most important.

Thank you all for your support.

I'm glad to hear that Owen isn't pedaling backwards! As long as he continues to eat, hopefully he will continue to gain back his strength. It's good to hear that he is still producing RBC's. Now come on, can you blame him for being picky. He's gonna milk this for all it's worth, wouldn't you hold out. Mama didn't raise no fool there :p

We'll keep sending those positive boxer vibes to Owen in hopes of a full and speedy recovery :)

Too funny - and very acurate!!!

This week I have seen Owen's energy level slowly increase! He has strarted to get his toys out of the toy box and scatter them throughout the house (which used to annoy me, but now brings a smile to my face:) ). He continues to eat well and he gums are getting more and more pink!

We came back from the vets, and we are now up to 33!!!!!!! The low normal range is 35 - we can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

We are going to keep things status quo with him for the next two weeks - steroids twice a day, and eating lots of liver and extra vitamins... We have an appointment with the vet for the 18th and we will evaluate the situation then, decide how and when to start decreasing his steroids!

It has been such a long road, and we still have a ways to go, but it's so nice to have Owen acting more like himself.

I am going to SLOWLY start to increase his activity level to build back his muscles and endurance. It's getting difficult to keep him calm in the house now!

Thank you ALL for your support, healing vibes, and words of wisdom. They have helped more that you will ever know.

I will post another update as soon as I have more info.

The healing vibes are working!

As of yesterday Owen is at 35!!! This is considered within the normal range (35-55). We will still work hard at improving these numbers the best we can, but at least he is normal - well is RBC's are!

I will have more info on Monday after his vet appointment.

Another good thing is that we are making our debut back to agility (only for half a class). The vet has said to slowly increase his excercise and see how his body reacts. I have been increasing his walks and letting him off leash - he has handeled all of this very well. He has lots of energy, and I though what better way of butning of energy and building stamina than in agility. He will be only jumping elmbo height or less, and there just to have fun. I don't expect anything from him, nor do I want him doing anyhting too strenious.

Wish us luck!
