Owen is HOME!!!!
Owen came home this afternoon (about an hour ago). His temperature has been normal for the past few days, and his blood count is till rising!
His blood count is now at 23.3%, up from 18% on Monday. The normal range is 35-55. We still have a ways to go but we are taking baby steps.
Owen is eating very well. He will only eat canned wet food and freeze dried liver treats. I have offered him his regular BARF, and even the pre-made BARF but he turns his nose up at it. I will go and buy a small bag of kibble tonight and see if he will eat that at least. He won't even eat beef (hamburger) that he usually LOVES. At this point I am not too concered what he is eating as long as he is eating something.
He is on antibiotics three times a day as that seems to be what's working at this point.
We will get the results from the Lepto on Saturday morning (hopefully). If it's not Lepto then we might have to do a bone marrow aspiration to find the cause of low red blood cells.
We are making progress - slowly. It is GREAT to have him home with me.
Thanks again to everyone for their support.
We are going back to the vets on Saturday to test his blood again for the amount of red bloods cells. As long as Owen contunued to eat, drink, and the red blood cells go up he can stay at home!
