Kong Stuffing

Okay, we're going on vacation soon for awhile and my 16 month old is going to be crated quite often during this time, so I need some Kong stuffing ideas HOWEVER, since he is the one that just had a foreign body removal surgery everything that goes in his kong needs to be soft and easily digestible (so no kibble pieces or hard treats or jerky), also, he has allergies so no dairy, no beef, no gluten (ie bread, etc), no wheat, no corn.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Peanut butter is an old staple, especially if you freeze it. And you can always stuff with baby carrots.

Yes, I'm planning on peanut butter and freezing it over night, but I need additional stuff to put in there, he can't stomach an entire Kong full of PB it'll make him sick so I put a couple of spoon fulls but then need to add other things. Veggies I can do as long as they're cooked. I HAD planned on popcorn, some gluten free homemade treats, some pieces of his kibble, along with the PB, however everything but the PB is a no no for the next 35 days or so so.... LoL.

Tyson loves bananas, apples, cantelope, watermelon, just about any kind of fruit. Some times I mix it with peanut butter and sometimes I just do the fruit (of course frozen). What about a little cooked chicken or turkey frozen also?

Well we're going to be gone for 2 weeks, would some cooked chicken last 14 days in the fridge okay? Bananas give him the runs, and well the others aren't in season so they don't really exist around here and since I've never given them not sure if they would cause issues or not (don't need to find out he gets the runs from apples when he's in a cage LoL). Chicken is a good idea, but would it be okay in the fridge so my friend could just pull out a few cut up pieces and throw it in the Kong the night before?

You can put in some soy yogurt than freeze it.

Or you could put soy cream cheese in a kong. Zeus' vet recommended that, as well as peanut butter, but I haven't gone into the natural food section of the store where I was told I could find soy cream cheese. The vet said soy is better than dairy cream cheese because dairy cream cheese will mold if let out. I usually fill a kong with kibble and treats topped with peanut butter and then frozen overnight to give to him in the morning before I leave for work.

Kong company has a lot of recipes! Kong also sells all natural stuff n' treats and peanut butter, liver, puppy and breath and senior pastes to fill a kong. Kong has one recipe called "Kongsicles" I can't wait to try this summer. It suggests you put a dab of peanut butter in the small end of the kong to plug it. Turn it upside down in a fup. Fill it full of water, chicken broth, or fruit juice and freeze.

Yes but my dog cannot have any of the hard treats right now he's post surgical and cannot have anything crunchy/hard for another 35 days not to mention all of their stuffing treats contain gluten. The pastes all contain dairy (milk) as well as corn both of which are allergen triggers, so for a "paste" I'm stuck with PB.

At the recommendation from a group I'm in I'm thinking of making a paste of PB and then some of his kibble that's been soaked in water along with some green beans and carrots, mixing it all up, stuffing, then freezing. Hopefully it won't get too messy.

Would it be possible to freeze the chicken and then have your friend pull it out as needed? IMO it would do ok in the fridge for a few days, but not too sure of 2 weeks. I will keep trying to think of some stuff for you. You can also maybe use frozen pumkin cubes. Mix with softened dog food or peanut butter also. What about canned fruit? Walmart has these liver treats that tyson loves. They are soft ones. They come in a small "pint milk carton" and cost like 97 cents a container. They are called Hollywood Stars. They have them on the top shelf here with all the other treats.

I'm just going to throw this out there...........why not contact Kong Company and ask them for suggestions?
