Hi guys!
Once again I am asking for your advice. Kailee has spent the last 4 days pretty much whining and fussing for most of the day. She appears to be in good health, is eating and drinking well, but when there is nothing going on she consistently whines. I have been spending extra time with her both outside and inside. Today we went for a long run which I thought would wear her out, it did me, but as soon as we got home she grabbed her rope, laid on the floor chewing on it and consitently whined. For some reason, when she is whining she is staring at the staircase almost as if she is waiting for something. We are taking her everywhere with us we can, barely leaving her at home alone. When we are doing activities or walking her she seems happy. I am about at my wits end as to what to do with her! Yes we have been arranging play days with other dogs,Roxy,Dallas and Sonic, but it just does not seem to be enough. Is it possible that we have just spoiled her these last four weeks after losing Buddy, or is she possibly still missing him and experiencing some depression? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am at a loss as what to do with her.

Poor Kailie! :(

She could be depressed and still missing Buddy or maybe she has been getting a bit too much attention and now wants it 100% of the time. You might try ignoring her a bit more, especially when she whines.

If all else fails.....get another boxer to keep her company. :)

I too think that she may still be experiencing some anxiety from the loss of Buddy..it is harder since she was a rescue and has not been with you for an extended period of time. It may take longer for her to settle. You may also want to try not giving her as much attention when she whines..it is hard to do that I know. I don't know Jean but the best solution here sounds like it may be to get another boxer

Another thought that may be a little far fetched here....Watch her, does she scratch at her ear(s) or shake her head a lot? Oscar was doing this (whining for no apparent reason). I watched him and began to notice signs of an ear infection (scratching at his ear, shaking his head---not often), although the ear didn't have the ear infection smell/look (my Golden was plagued by ear infections). Took him to the vet who cultured and sure enough, he had a very slight ear infection starting. Just another thought........Hope she perks up soon!

Jean..Draco too whines a lot--I really don't know why!!! The vet says that he is okay. He whines no matter what and stops only when I turn my attention to him. If I am sitting he whines, if I am standing then also he whines..I cannot go to the bathroom without him whining his heart out.
Maybe Kailee is just going through a whining phase. Maybe she really needs a Boxer buddy!!!!

Jean, first i think vet check is in order.......could she have a toothe ache?

Okay, I really dont think thats the prob :) I think that you spoiled her a bit and maybe ignoring will help (i dont htink that YOU can ignore her, your too much of a softy) so why not just get kailee another play mate??/

Jakee seems to do the same thing sometimes when he wants attention, he is really spirled. I get very quick whimpers like he's dying of some HORRIBLE fate. I just ignore him and he knows to stop after awhile. I used to rush him to the vet after awhile, but not anymore!!

Lucy used to whine ALL the time - because she was SPOILED ROTTEN!!! :) If she couldn't get on the couch, didn't get attention from me, didn't get a 'cookie' when she wanted one, and the list goes on... :)
Max has been pretty sad but he has not done any whining. He just lays there and doesn't even look at me when I try to 'talk' to him or pet him...:(
It's pretty sad - but he's getting much better..
So to answer your question: I think she has gotten SPOILED. :) ..but I'd rather have it be that than her being depressed!

OMG, Kaiser whines ALL THE TIME!! It was very minor when I first got him, but then it just got worse. I figured out that trying to console him (like saying "what's wrong baby" and "its ok" in a really sappy voice) did not stop his whining. I watched him very carefully before finally deciding that he whines when he wants attention. He whines the worst when I 1st get home; he usually won't stop until I sit down on the couch and he can lay next to me. If he goes into a fit of whining, which he only breifly does now, I tell him to stop it very firmly and remind him he's a big boy. LOL...he usually looks at me for a moment and then lays down and gets quiet. I guess this is his way of communicating w/me...Roxy doesn't whine much, but she talks all the time! Either way, I am sure some of your baby's whining is because she misses her buddy. :( Kaiser was just recently seperated from Roxy for a day, for the 1st time, and he cried like a baby for almost 30 min. He whined a bit more than usual until Roxy came home. Hope Kailee feels better soon!!!

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH THIS RIGHT NOW! Our Dallas is a whiner and she is always whining even in her sleep she will do this. The vet told me she was spoiled by me and laughed it off after she checked her out and nothing was wrong with her. I was told I overreact with her and Dallas just needs and wants me all the time. I am used to it now though. The vet also told me if I got another boxer for her to play with she would probably stop this whining and woo woos all the time. I just thought to myself- why do that I like the attention, plus what if I got another and they BOTH did it- now that would be an issue there. Don't worry- it will soon fade or you'll get used to it!
