Boxer Buddy
Those of us who have gone through this before know how hard it is to say goodbye to our boxers. I, myself had to do it recently with my first boxer, Brody. We're never prepared for it no matter how hard we try. My mom and I knew that she would only have Angel for a short period of time. She adopted her from a rescue organization that I volunteer for this past January. Early on she started exhibiting some strange behavior, pacing, yelping, stiffness. She was recently diagnosed with epilepsy and has suffered with seizures for the last few months. My mom has been brave and so loving. She's never once gotten mad when Angel kept her up all night pacing, or when she couldn't control her bladder when in the midst of a seizure. She's researched to make sure she fed her the right food, made sure she got just the right amount of exercise, and always loved Angel despite her condition. She took care of Angel the same way that she took care of me, my brother, and sister. With undying love, support, and attention. Angel was only in our lives for a short while, but we will never forget her.
For the last couple of weeks Angel has been having seizures a lot more often and not responding to medication. The vet suspected that she may possibly have a brain tumor , which caused the condition to get worse very quickly. However, last night my mom and her had a wonderful night. They ate a great dinner together, took a nice long walk in the park, played with a new ball that Angel absolutely loved. They ended the night with Angel giving my mom lots of boxer kisses, which she rarely did. She seized all night and all morning. My mom took her into the vet this afternoon. Dr.Tonne decided to put her into a drug induced sleep to give her body a rest and any more seizing could have caused brain damage. They tried to wake her up, but to no avail. Her poor body was just overcome with them. I picked my mom up from work and we headed to the vets' office. Her decision had been made, she didn't want her baby to suffer any more. Angel could barely move when we walked into the room, but I'd like to think she knew we were there with her. We said our good byes and tearfully went home. I'm glad we had each other during these hard times. Only someone who has been through this can truly console. I hate to think of my mom being home alone, missing her friend. It would really mean a lot to me if you guys could send her some well wishes. It may help her immensely to have the support. her email address is [Please pm for email ] . I'd appreciate it sooo much. Thanks.
