Just had to get this off my chest...

I was at the vet yesterday to pick up my dogs heartworm pills and there was quite a few people there and they were all sitting a together and one lady asks if Dakota is an english bulldog. I said no he's a boxer and she says to me how cute he is and then once she thought I had turned around all the way she says to all the people she's sitting with "She doesn't know what she's talking about. A boxer IS and english bulldog. I can't believe she doesn't even know what her own dog is." Now I just have to say there is no question that I have a pure bred boxer. I get comments on him all the time about how gorgeous of a boxer he is and I know it's not a far off comparison but to then start wispering to everyone that i'm some kind of an idiot and don't know what breed of dog I have just irritated me. I didn't say anything else to her because I know how people can be and obviously it's not worth the energy. Sorry just had to get that off my chest...

Arent people just funny!!! I would not let someone like that bother you... Seems to me she is the one that does not know anything It is frustrating but you have to take them with a grain of salt!

Arent' you so glad you ran into her at the office today. To think simple little you doesn't even know that boxers and english bulldogs are the same dog. Wow you could have spent the rest of your life not knowing what kind of dog you had.
Unfortunately, some people's mouths doesn't stop by their brains before they start running. I agree with Crowpete, you just have to take it with a grain of salt. For you know you are right and she only thinks she is.

Chances are some of the people that she was whispering to had more sense then she does and know the difference between a boxer and an english bull dog and made herself look like an idiot. My vet has a huge framed picture that shows over 100 breeds of dogs with a picture, short description of where they originated and their characteristics (sp?), It would have been nice if yours had this and you could have pointed out the two and taught an ignorant person somthing.

Yeah that would have been nice.. At mine they just have a lot of german shepherd police dogs everywhere. One of the ladies that work there actually owns 3 or 4 boxers but she wasn't there that day. I mean i'm not holding a grudge or anything over it I was just a little shocked to hear her say that esp since I was only a good 5 feet away from them. Then again I guess I shouldn't have been surprised because you never know with people these days. The only thing I heard someone else say after she said that was that my dog was very well behaved

Maybe she is refering to the idea that way back in the boxer line there is bulldog blood lines. Supposedly that is where the white in boxers comes from.

I've had a similar situation happen with me, but the other person was convinced Sophie was a "tiger-striped pitbull". You handled that situation much better than I did. My big mouth didn't hesitate to educate her. Then again, I often find myself with the need to stuff my foot between those flapping gums. :D
