Today is the first anniversary of the London bombings, when many lost their lives, and others were left maimed for life, when they were on their way to work on our transport systems..
It was really odd to see the very high level of police presence on the commute today, lots of people were being searched before they were let on the platforms..It was all very sad, and a reminder of the times that we live in, where even a train journey poses a threat to your personal safety.
We had a two minute silence, in honour of those that didn't survive that dreadful day..I work in a busy department store, and we a had an announcement made 5 minutes before 12 'o clock informing everyone that we would be observing this out of respect, and that if anyone didn't want to participate, they had time to pay for their purchases and leave. At twelve, all us Managers went onto the sales floor, and asked the cashiers to stop serving...We all stood in silence, and I must admit, I found it very moving, and quite poigniant that on a busy Friday, the whole world seemed to come to a respectful halt......Then halfway through, a stupid woman marched in between everyone else, and screeched out to her friend across the store, to look at an item of clothing she had found!!... We all turned and glared at her,I had to break my own silence, to ask her to shut up, as we were trying to show some respect..I was livid!!..
I would just like to say to anyone who lost a loved one on that dreadful day last year, that my thoughts today are with you.

Dharmadoodle must have been posting the same time as you.
My thoughts are with the friends and family left behind as well as the rescue personel who worked the situation.
