My heart jumps in my thraot everytime I see this in one of the "new posts" I keep being afraid to see she didn't make it. I'm SO Happy to see she is still holding on and progressing forward with her healing. Can't wait to see new pics of her so I can get those horrible images of her out of my mind.

Kepp it up Julia!

Julia Valentine has gained 5.5 lbs in the 2 weeks we had her. She now tips the scale at 36 pounds. She is doing very well, eating like a horse and improving every day!

THis is music to my ears. I am so thrilled that she is eating and gaining weight. She deserves all the food her little body can get.

I pray for a continued recovery.

I am so glad julia's valentine has a good prognosis....the pictures just broke my heart......if it weren't for people like yourself, these poor babies would have no one to look out for them. i know it's hard, but also rewarding, please keep up the good work. and please keep us posted. jessica

:( I have just come off the most horrible year of my life and 2004 has not been so great for my family as well. I have spent the last 8 days in the hospital with my 11 year old son recovering from a major surgery and just feeling overwhelmed and sorry for myself. Then I see Julia's photos...man do I feel humbled. I have a family who loves me, my son is recovering very well, and we all have the 3 basics...food, clothing and shelter. This poor baby had none of that and she is still fighting...wow! If she can come through this so can I. My prayers are with you Julia, hang in there baby!

Another Update

Foster Mom Posted this on 2/27/04:

Yesterday was a milestone for little Miss Valentine... Her mid-morning meal was given to her like always and she sat and looked just as pretty as a picture while I placed the bowl on the floor, just like every other day. She began to eat wholeheartedly and I went and sat down to give the little dainty thing some time to eat...she came over to me about 5 minutes later and was ready for snuggle time, so I began rubbing and cooing at her, and happened to take a look over at her bowl and was stunned. There in the bowl, there was about 5 bites of food, uneaten. I asked her if she wanted the rest of the yummy chicken and rice and she just licked and licked me...it was all I could do to keep the tears from coming. This emaciated little fraction of a boxer was so starved when we got her, that all she could and would think about was food. Kisses and hugs were ok, but she knew what her body needed and was so driven that within about 30 seconds her meals were devoured, with not a drop left in the bowl. It just seemed like she was telling me that now that her belly was full, she cared more about what her heart needed, rather than her tummy...and what little Miss Julia wants more that anything right now, is hugs, kisses, and love. She's content now, which is a feeling she hasn't felt in a long while...We'll keep the yummy food coming and she'll get more and more active by the day. We'll also throw in loads of snuggles and play time, so that when this little warrior is ready for a new family, she will be fully healed body and soul.
