I don't even know what to say. I've seen my share of emaciated dogs in rescue, but that's certainly the worst. I can't believe a dog can look like that and live. I'm so glad she's in good hands now, and I'm also very glad to hear that the trauma she's been through didn't kill her spirit. Please keep us posted. I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" pictures.

Oh geez. She is definitely the worst I've seen. We got in a starvation case in 2002 who was seized by animal control and we thought he was skinny, but this girl takes the cake. Poor thing!

WOW

This is definately the most emaciated live dog I've ever seen.
Which has already been said. But....
I am posting to fill people in on other possible reasons this dog could have become this way. Yes, there are evil people out there. Chances are very likely, had this dog been removed from someone's improper care - the rescue would have been told the story.
When the dog is listed as a stray and comes into the shelter this way, it certainly did not have the strength to escape inhumane treatment. More than likely it wandered the streets (yes, due to human neglect for not watching their baby close enough ) but since the dogs mother did not show it how to hunt and perhaps was in an area where garbage was not plentiful or the dog just never learned to survive on garbage, I can see this happening. After a time, the dog becomes weaker and weaker, basically hiding while sleeping, furthering it's starvation due to lack of energy.
I think this is how really "good" dogs get into rescue. Not mistreated physically always - just escaped while someone wasn't watching, maybe it even hopped a 6ft fence?
My foster right now, Carl, was emaciated and extremely clean when he arrived at my house. Since I've had him, I notice he likes to entertain himself by keeping himself clean.
Looks like this little girl has a few months before she's back to the dog she really is.

What I really don't understand is how no one saw this girl around in the streets before she got this skinny! Didn't someone notice her at 40 pounds and think to take her to some kind of shelter.
Slobbery boxer kisses from my 2 kids and my current foster, Luna. Please keep us updated on her condition.

There are no words after seeing those pictures................

Bless you and Boxer Luv Rescue for saving this beautiful girl. She will be in my thoughts and prayers. All she needs besides food is love and she's getting plenty of that right now, so I am sure she will make a great recovery. Thank you again for your dedication.

Update

Little Julia is making progress! Yesterday, one of the local news stations came to interview us with Julia so I got to spend a couple of hours with her and she is just wonderful. She loves to give lots of boxer kisses and she's even starting to bean a little! She seems to be afraid so she cries and barks when left in the guest room alone, so her foster dad has been sleeping in there with her at night so they can all get rest. Poor little thing...We can only speculate what happened to her previously so we have no idea what she's been through...I wish more than anything that she could tell us...

She really is charming...the camera man and reporter just thought she was so adorable once they picked their jaws up off the ground...it really does take your breath away when you first see her little body. Tears just spring to your eyes...

Thank you all for the encouraging posts and donations! The compassion and love that you all have shown through your words and through sponsoring little Julia have really touched all of us in the rescue. I told her that bunches of boxer lovers all over the world are sending her lots of big boxer hugs and kisses so she has to pull through and get well for all of us...she wiggled her little tail and planted a big kiss right on my cheek...she has such a soulful and attentive spirit...I know she understood.

I'll keep you all posted and we'll get some new pics of her this weekend!

I bet that the foster dad is going to have a hard time letting her go. We are all in love with this sweet girl and we have not had the benefit of getting to hug or kiss her. She is still in my prayers.
