Maybe someone out there can help me with this.
My family has always had boxers and I now have two of my own. Solar I bought as a puppy and she is the joy of my life and I don't know what I would do without her. She is 20 months old now and, although we still have some obedience issues, she is the lovliest dog.
Griffin I adopted from a shelter 6 months ago. He is also very lovely but obviously not brought up in an ideal environment. He is very jealous about anybody touching his food bowl which both Solar and I can cope with, no problem.
The problem I have is that I cannot pet Griffin AT ALL, while Solar is around. She is not a problem though she always comes up for her share when I have done it. The problem is him. If I'm petting him, and Solar comes near he gets extremely jealous and attacks her, snarling, the whole bit. I can stop it but it all came to head last weekend when I went camping with some friends (and dogs, of course).
Griffin decided that the camp-fire-side was his territory and all the people in it and we had a couple of quite frightening episodes (for the other people with me). I had to eventually put Griffin away so that it couldn't occur.
Is there anyway that I can train this out of him? I don't want to have to leave him behind on camping trips because it was lovely to see the fun he was having racing over the dunes. HELP!
